Biography<br />
John Cavadini teaches in the Department of Theology and is the Director of the Institute<br />
for Church Life. Until stepping down in June, 2010, he had been chair of the Department of<br />
Theology since 1997. He teaches classes in the history and theology of the early Church, in the<br />
theology of miracles, in the theology of creation, the theology of the Fathers of the Church,<br />
especially St. Augustine. Cavadini is the founder of the Echo <strong>Program</strong> in catechetical leadership,<br />
and of the ND Vision <strong>Program</strong>, a summer retreat style conference for high school students. He<br />
is interested in projects in religious education, passing on the faith especially to youth. Cavadini<br />
has lectured on the theology of miracles, Eucharist, saints, Mary, devotion to St. Joseph,<br />
theology of the Church, and other topics suitable for “Theology on Tap” sessions.<br />

these topics and other related questions.<br />

Recent scandals in the Church have prompted many to have a renewed interest in the theology of the Church. What is an<br />
authentic Catholic theology of the Church? This lecture examines the Catholic Church’s understanding of the theology of the<br />
Church in light of questions occasioned by the recent scandals.<br />
