Biography<br />

James VanderKam earned a Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1976, and taught at North<br />

Carolina State University for 15 years before coming to Notre Dame in 1991. In the last two<br />

decades, his research has focused on the Dead Sea Scrolls, concentrating on publishing and<br />

interpreting them. He has edited 13 volumes of scrolls in the official series Discoveries in the<br />

Judean Desert, has written The Dead Sea Scrolls Today and co-authored The Meaning of the<br />

Dead Sea Scrolls. He also is the editor-in-chief of the Encyclopedia of the Dead Sea Scrolls, and<br />

editor of the Journal of Biblical Literature.<br />
