ASAM MCD-2 MC (market name: ASAP2) is a
description format for parameters and measurements
of an Electronic Control Unit (ECU), its
communication methods and interfaces Additionally
the A2L file contains the computation
methods to transfer the ECU internal data
model into a physical one and vice versa
The A2L file is used to give measurement and
calibration tools access to the ECU This starts
early in the ECU software development, runs
while the complete tuning phase of the vehicle
OEM diagnostics and ECU reprogramming
processes, single source process for diagnostics,
diagnostic requirements definition, ECU

with the ECU code the A2L file Measurement
and calibration tools read the A2L file and offer
the calibration and test engineers the possibility
to work on the ECU with a physical model and
