The ASAM organization was created with the
goal of offering a platform for the development
of universal standards The end users
of the standards (OEM and system suppliers)
put in their requirements and members from
both OEM and TIER1, as well as tool suppliers
and universities work to develop and maintain
the standards through the advisement of the
ASAM Board and a Technical Steering Committee
(TSC) All ASAM members working in
industry have the opportunity to actively exert
influence on the development of the standards
The TSC is a group of delegates elected bi-annually
from the ASAM membership who evaluate
technical proposals, as well as ongoing projects
from the point of market relevance and
general usage as they relate to ASAM From
these actions, the goal is to have a competitive
standards portfolio which fulfills market
needs and helps to grow the ASAM standards
acceptance within the automotive industry, as
well as other applicable markets The circle of
delegates, plus additional contributing participants
shall meet together in a general meeting,
called a TSC meeting, at least three times
a calendar year, in addition to other schedule
web conferences and Forum discussions (as
needed) The Technical Steering Committee
(TSC) covers the two areas of operation of
ASAM e V : AE (Automotive Electronics) and
CAT (Computer Aided Testing)
The Board of Directors regulates the interests
of ASAM on the strategic level and is the highest
escalation level in the business operations
of ASAM The highest decision-making body of
ASAM e V is its Members Meeting
The central coordination role comes from the
two ASAM offices in Europe and the USA
Here the information is gathered and fed into
the different committees Apart from the financial
and project management the “Office” is
responsible for member support and the marketing
of ASAM and its standards

ASAM members have shifted their activities
from the development of the standards to projects
and the development of products The
commitment of the different Project and Maintenance
groups, as well as other committees
of ASAM is efficiently creating new market segments
and synergies with a high quality level
Innovation is constantly providing new challenges
and opportunities for ASAM members
The integration of MSR (Manufacturer Supplier
Relationship), ASAM AE MCD-2 NET (FIBEX-
Field Bus Exchange Format) and ASAM AE HIL
API (API for ECU Testing via Hardware-in-the-
Loop Simulation) are some prominent examples
of topics brought into its organization
ASAM cooperates closely with other organizations,
e g the MOST Cooperation (FIBEX-
4MOST), CAN in automation (CIA) and the
International Organization for Standardization
(ISO) With the establishment of an office in
Royal Oak, Michigan, USA (2005), and the
newly established representative in Pune, India
(2007), ASAM has created more support to
advance its standards worldwide
