Ever since Lance Armstrong
won the Tour de France I have
started seeing people wearing
the colorful rubber wrist bands
to show their support for a
cause.
Recently I have started seeing
a lot of bowlers wear them,
however, they are not wearing
them for a cause. It seems that
there is some technology that
has been developed around the
bands and they actually serve a
purpose other than fashion.
I must say that I’m quite the
skeptic about this sort of stuff,
however, I have decided to give
it a shot and see if it does what
is says it does.
The one I am wearing is the
EFX Silicone Sports Wristband
that according to the website
indicates that it will increase
balance, strength, and flexibility
and decrease swelling.
Now anyone who has seen
me bowl knows that I have a
horrible habit of falling off of
shots. If this thing does what
it says it will do then I might
become a better bowler. If that
happens then I will be willing
to purchase the necklace,
anklet, and whatever other
body parts they make them for.
While we are on the subject
of fashion I would like to take
a moment to discuss some
of the most recent trends
and fashion errors of today’s
bowlers.
The first one that comes
to mind is the wearing of the
white belt. Now, I actually
don’t hate the look. I think
I’m jealous because they only
seem to look good on skinny
people. As a matter of fact, I’m
guessing that the white belt
manufacturer stops making
them after size 36. After all, if
your belly is going to cover the
belt, who cares what color it is.
Another recent fashion is
the bowling jersey. If you’ve
not worn one of those then you
don’t know what you’re missing.
I’m not sure what they’re
made of, but I wish I could get
some sheets made out of the
same stuff. I have never felt a
sexier feeling shirt than I did
when I wore that jersey.
On to the main fashion
negative. That would be the
half shirt. I know it’s not
intended to be a half shirt,
but when shirts get dried they
shrink. Eventually they shrink
to the point where they don’t
cover everything. This is where
the problem begins.
Most people aren’t interested
in seeing how much hair you
have around your navel. That’s
why I want to share my secret
with you. It’s called the swing
test, and I do it before I go
bowling.
and rare back and act like I am
firing the ball down the lane,
and if I see flesh I immediately
change shirts. Even though
that shirt fit me the last time
I wore it, I might have had a
donut or two since so there is
no other way to know if it still
covers everything other than
performing the swing test.
Just remember when in
doubt, upsize, and add an X to
whatever you’re wearing
Is anyone else already tired
of the hype of the Miami Heat?
They just started training camp
and they already have cameras
rolling and showing highlights
from their scrimmage.
Obviously Dwayne Wade
makes me want to stick my
finger down my throat after
he cost the Mavericks an NBA
championship. Lebron James
is wearing me out with all his
talk and his belief that he is
bigger than the game. Finally,
there’s Chris Bosh. He hasn’t
done anything to anger me, but
what’s he done to deserve the
hype that he’s getting. Maybe
it’s because he was hidden
in Canada, but he’s not even
in my top 10 players in the
NBA. I can’t wait till this Heat
experiment turns into complete
failure.
The Track ball demonstration
show will feature several
bowlers, including several
Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour
players, bowling on a variety of
lane conditions to highlight the
performance capabilities and
versatility of the ball. Track
Research and Development
engineers will also be on hand
to explain the technical aspects
of the ball and to explore ideal
drilling layouts. Live questions
will be taken from the Track
Facebook and Twitter pages,
and the PBA Facebook page as
well.
During the program, consumers
will be invited to enter
a special drawing through the
Track Web site (www.trackbowling.com)
to win one of
several new Track HP bowling
balls. A new ball will be given
away every weekday for 10
weeks after the worldwide
release date on Nov. 11.
“We are very excited about
this ball and this ball release,”
Figliomeni said. “Track bowling
has never done anything
this extreme and to our knowledge
nothing like this has
ever been done before in our
industry. This ball is unique,
and we needed a unique way
to introduce it; Xtra Frame is a
great way to do that.”
