David Wootton
David Wootton (1969) as 684th Lord Mayor of the City of London has completed an
eventful year in which the City became the focus of global media interest with the Royal
Wedding, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and the Olympics. Among his many initiatives
at home and abroad as Lord Mayor, David visited Beijing and Shanghai to promote the
City as a hub of international renmimbi (the Chinese currency) business. At the Queen’s
Diamond Juibilee Thanksgiving Service, David bore the ceremonial Pearl Sword as he led
the Queen into St Paul’s Cathedral.
Wohl Prize Established

Earlier this year, Lisa Keller, Professor of History, Purchase College State University,
New York, contacted the College because she wished to establish a prize in honour of
her former Tutor, Professor Anthony Wohl (1955), at Vassar University, Poughkeepsie.
In her words, Professor Wohl was the first to appreciate and encourage her thinking
and laid the foundation for her academic career. By remarkable coincidence, he was
visiting the College in summer 2012 to attend the JCCS Buffet Lunch and we took the
opportunity to enable him to award the first Wohl Prize to Tom Arnold-Forster (2010).
