Sir Donavan was the best Hanoverian
in the division for five-year olds.
him into the final. Photo: Frieler
Hawtins Floriana by Florestan/Weltmeyer who was
bred in Great Britain just like Farouche. The share
of German bred horses is certainly respectable in
the division for six-year olds. The World Championship
title was awarded to a Hanoverian bred in
Great Britain and the bronze medal wnet to an Oldenburg
stallion – what else could we wish for? In
addition to that there were five very good placements!
Three Dutch horses, two Swedish and one
Danish horse joined the seven German horses.
The title remains in Germany
The World Championship title in the five-year old
division stayed in Germany. Eva Möller delivered
two almost perfect rides on Sa Coeur by the Oldenburg
Sir Donnerhall at the World Championships in
Verden. Another pair from Germany won the silver
medal. Ann-Christin Wienkamp presented the
Westphalian sire Revolverheld by Rockwell/Landstreicher.
The black sire Capri Sonne Jr. by Rhodium/San
Remo (KWPN) won bronze with his Dutch
rider Dinja van Liere.
Eva Möller advanced to becoming the best rider at
these World Championships with a gold medal in
the five-year old division and a forth place in the
division for six-year olds. She was impressed by Sa
Coeur, “We already understand each other very
well even after only two months. Sa Coeur is very
people-oriented, totally relaxed in the show ring
and has above average movement.” “You don’t
get such a horse every day,” Eva Möller looks towards
the future with a laughing and a crying eye.
The head judge and commentator Marietta Sanders
van Gansewinkel from the Netherlands rea-
lized very quickly the potential of Sa Coeur in the
final for five-year olds. “We cannot even imagine a
better walk, just wonderful” and awarded the
highest score of the day, a 10,0. As a competitor
with a perspective Sa Coeur received the following
other scores: Trot 9,6; canter 8,9; throughness 8,8
and a 9,6 for general impression. With an overall
score of 9,38, Sa Coeur was the only horse in this
division to pass the magic score of 9,0. All other
horses stayed below including the Westphalian
sire Revolverheld with an overall score of 8,98.
The Hanoverian sire Sir Donovan by Sir Donnerhall/
Weltmeyer qualified for the five-year old final as
the only Hanoverian with his rider Nick van Laer
from Belgium. The pair finished on 13th place with
a final score of 7,88. They had placed seventh with
a score of 8,38 in the qualification. On the final
day the sire showed slight weaknesses in the canter,
“certainly correct and rhythmical however we
would have loved to see a bit more energy and
carrying power today.” The beautiful stallion
showed his true qualities in the qualifying class. He
received a score of 8,9 for his trot and an 8,8 for
his canter.
A total of eight Germany-bred horses participated
in the final for five-year olds; five Oldenburg horses,
one Hanoverian, one Westphalian and one
Rhineland horse. Five horses came from the
Netherlands and one each from Denmark and Finland.
Five other Hanoverians competed in the fiveyear
old division next to Sir Donovan: the stallion
Deveraux by Depardieu/Donnerhall under Steffen
Drahm (breeder: Dr. Ulrich Kriebel, Bienenbuettel),
the gelding Domenikus by Don Marco/Rosentau
(breeder: Werner Rückgauer, Krautheim) under
Holga Finken, the gelding Dhannie by Don Crusador/Weltmeyer
(breeder: Hinrich Engelke, Doerverden)
with rider Juan Francisco Fernandez Munoz
from Spain, the mare Della Scala by De Niro/Rubin-
Royal (breeder: Daniel Sabel, Gersten) with rider
Anthony Astier and the stallion Belissimus by Belissimo/De
Niro (breeder: Dörthe Nölkenhöner, Raddestorf)
under Eva Jancarikova. Even though the
different performances were quite good they were
not good enough for a final qualification. Jan Pederson
from the WBFSH (World Breeding Federation
for Sport Horses) was very satisfied with the
international field of participants as well as with
the quality of the horse evaluations. “It was the
horse that had been trained correctly and had solidity
in accordance with its age that mattered and
not just spectacular movement at the World Championships
as well as at the Olympic Games in London.
I am saying this with true conviction.” The
World Championships for young dressage horses
in 2012 were once again perfectly organized. n
