is no stranger in Verden. Last year the grey mare
out of the breeding program of Dr. Jürgen Lehner,
Müggendorf, brilliantly performed in Verden’s freejumping
competition (2nd place) and in free-jumping
on the Herwart von der Decken-Show. She
then received a Ih-prize. She has impressed even
more with her jumping talent this year. The powerful
yet a bit short-lined mare finished in third place
with rider Joachim Winter with a score of 8,6 from
the qualification and the final.
The group of five-year olds was of exceptional
quality. It was by no means a small and elite group
of competitors but a field of 68 participating horses.
It required an even 8,0, which stands for good,
in the jumper class at the L-level to qualify for the
final. Stallions dominated both divisions. The final
consisted of a jumper-horse class at the M*-level.
Eight horses participated in a jump-off. The qualifying
score for the jump-off was 8,2 and better. Five
stallions were in the group of eight being Commissario,
Inliner, Chacco Gold, Van Helsing and Scentender;
four were licensed.
Top scores for the champion
Commissario by Catoki/Contendro (breeder: Dr.
Carsten Haack, Freiburg) entered the ring as the
last competitor under rider Karl Brocks in both the
qualification as well as in the final. The privately
owned stallion rightfully left the stadium with top
scores regardless of the results he had obtained
prior to his performance. Even though his score in
the final was not quite as high as in the qualification
because it took a little bit of time for him to
find his rhythm his combined score of 9,0 put him
in the lead for the jump-off. And he was not about
to give up this top position. The judging committee
that consisted of Joachim Geilfus, Klaus Gosch and
Hans Wallmeier awarded Commissario scores between
8,8 and 9,2, while judging independently for
the stallion’s powerful jumping ability. The stallion
took first place with a final score of 27,00.
Reserve champion Inliner by Iberio/Sao Paulo, a
sire from the State Stud Celle ridden by Eva Bitter,
matured positively over the passed year. In 2011
he finished the Hanoverian Jumper Horse Championships
in third place. In 2012 he appeared to
have matured a lot and presented himself with
considerably more athleticism. This stallion that
was bred by Alois Naber, Saterland was able to reduce
the large margin to Commissario from the
qualification considerably in the first round of the
final. Eva Bitter and powerful Inliner added a notch
in the jump-off and closed in on the champion reducing
the difference to 0,2 with a final score of
26,8 after the jump-off.
A mare won bronze just like in the four-year old
division. St. Pr. A. Caramia by Chacco-Blue/Almox
Prints J (breeder: Joachim Betz, Dillenburg) jumped
cautiously and powerfully using her entire body.
Caramia confirmed her positive impression from
the qualification in the final under rider Mathis
Schwentker. She entered the jump-off in forth
place with a score of 8,3. An effortless-appearing
easy-going round in the jump-off guaranteed her a
third place.
21 out of 52 talents qualified for the final for sixyear
olds. The top eight of the first round with
scores of 7,9 and better qualified for the jump-off
that was judged by faults and time used – just as
at the Bundeschampionate. It became really tight
and very exciting! In the end the Hessian mare
Cantara by Cristo/Cassone was the winner with
her rider the renowned jumper trainer Thomas
Brandt; he bred the mare himself. The sire Cristo is
a Holstein stallion by Contendro. Cantara is an adroit
ans noble mare of medium frame with good
technique and ability. She was quickly back on her
feet after each fence. She had qualified for the final
with a third place. She received a score of 8,5
for her first round.
Eva Bitter rode two horses; one into second and
one into third place. Both horses carried Stakkatoblood
as was to be expected. The long-legged Stalido
by Stakkato/Calido finished in second place
entering the jump-off with a score of 9,2. This was
the highest score in the first round. He was not
able to beat the fast time of Cantara, though. Renate
Bosse, Wendeburg bred Stalido out of the
dam line of Odalga. Last year he had placed third
at the Hanoverian Jumper Horse Championships
and had qualified for the final at the Bundeschampionate
in Warendorf. The third-placed horse called
Argelith Squid by Salito/Gibraltar (breeder: Ralf
Girndt, Peine) had a similar history. Eva Bitter had
a clean first round with him and received a score of
9,0. Unfortunately the pair was the first to go in
the jump-off. He showed his phenomenal ability
but had a little rumble after the combination. In
the end he was a second slower than the champion.
Squid could certainly be called the favorite for
the jump-off with a third place in the Federal
Championships in 2011 and as the winner of the
qualification with a score of 9,2.
We witnessed a broad group of top athletes that
should have the potential for international competition
in every age group. The Hanoverian Jumper
Horse Championships were an excellent preparation
for the Bundeschampionate; a large
number of Hanoverian jumpers were able to qualify
for that. n
