Hannoverians at the Olympics
In addition to the medal winners 13 Hanoverians and one Hessian horse competed in
London. So they were the biggest group of german bred horses.

Rutherglen was scheduled to become a Verden auction horse and already belonged
to the collection of the Summer Auction in 2007. However, he had to be

Four years ago, Butts Leon was Andreas Dibowski’s Olympic horse. Following
the victory in the four-star competition in Luhmühlen, he sold
Leon with a heavy heart to Nina Ligon who lives in the US and who is
competing for Thailand. The dam line of Liebeslust also produced Leonas
Dancer who competed with “Dibo” at the Olympic Games in Sydney.

Latina found her way to Great Britain where she participated at first one-star-tests in 2008. Last
year, she was ridden by Lucinda Fredericks before she was taken over by Takayuki Yumira. Both
earned a sensational fourth place at the CCI*** in Vairano. Elwood and Firth of Lorne are more

Shamwari is the only horse with a Hessen brand in London. Chris Bartle is coaching his rider.
Shamwari was first trained by Peter Thomsen who will compete in the German team. Ludvig
Svenerstal has been sitting in the saddle of the black-brown horse since 2009. Shamwari comes
