German competitors were highly successful at Olympic Games from Seoul to<br />
Hongkong. <strong>The</strong> flood of medals began in Barcelona. <strong>Hanoverian</strong> horses shone<br />
especially in Hongkong. All individual dressage medals were awarded to horses with<br />
<strong>the</strong> desired <strong>Hanoverian</strong> foal brand.<br />

<strong>The</strong> sensation of Seoul 1988<br />
Nobody would have ever dared to imagine how<br />
<strong>the</strong> events actually unravel in Seoul, Asia in 1988.<br />
Team gold medals in all three equestrian disciplines;<br />
individual gold in dressage as well as bronze<br />
– only <strong>the</strong> officers at <strong>the</strong> Berlin Games in 1936 had<br />
an even higher medal harvest! In <strong>the</strong> first jumper<br />
qualification for <strong>the</strong> individual final course desig-<br />
ner Olaf Petersen does not build <strong>the</strong> fences to <strong>the</strong><br />
allowed limit; this leads to clear rounds for 17 out<br />
of 74 participants. Germany’s riders Franke Sloothaak<br />
on Walzerkönig, Dirk Hafemeister on Orchidee,<br />
Karsten Huck on Nepomuk and Wolfgang<br />
Brinkmann on Pedro finish <strong>the</strong> course amidst <strong>the</strong><br />
better half of <strong>the</strong> participants. <strong>The</strong> German team<br />
wins. After dressage and eventing it is <strong>the</strong> third
