Tanco Team: Adrian Lacey, Martin Maye, Christian Walter and
Anne Moten, Customer Relations Manager.
provided he is within a radius of
50 m. A further Wrap and Stack
method is possible using wrapping
machines of the 1320 series.
The wrapper is based on
Tanco’s successful model 1300,
and weighing only 700 kg itself
it can be mounted e.g. in the
front hydraulics or on the telescopic
loader post.
Picking up, wrapping and
stacking bales can all be done
in a single operation here. By
comparison with the predecessor
model, the new frame construction
and the wrapping program
with optimised electronics
and hydraulics reportedly offer a
perceptible increase in performance.
The hydraulically folding
wrapping arms are a special feature
here. The second wrapping
arm approaches the fi rst wrapping
arm automatically during
the fi nal turn. The two fi lm dispensers
thus reach the cutting
device at almost the same time
and are cut off by just one cutting
device and pre-tensioned
for the next wrap. As soon as
the next wrapping operation
starts, the two wrapping arms
automatically take up their positions
on opposite sides again.
The wrapping arms are uniformly
balanced here, thus allowing
high wrapping rates.
But the Irish manufacturer
does not only wrap round bales.
When heavy square bales are
waiting, for example, they recommend
the trailed 1814 wrapper.
The wheels are mounted
at the rear here and thus shift
COMPANIES AND MARKETS
the weight to the rear axle of
the tractor as desired for better
traction.
Ten per cent growth
a year
Shortly before Trader last
visited Tanco in 2006, Adrian
Lacey (then 31) had come from
the Meryll Lynch Bank and reorganised
the company with
new people and a new marketing
strategy, as well as reinforcing
the sales team. A success story!
Sales and profi ts have grown
distinctly since then, though
Lacey keeps the exact fi gures to
himself. Some 1000plant yellow
Tanco machines and mounted
implements for front loaders
leave the works site in the industrial
zone of the little town
of Bagenalstown in Ireland every
year.
Crisis in the agricultural machinery
industry does not exist
for Lacey. “2010 will be the best
ever year in our company history”,
reports the young businessman,
not without pride.
Despite the good fi gures, the
staff at the Tanco Headquarters
aim to keep their feet fi rmly
on the ground. Ten per cent
growth a year is possible, reports
Sales Manager Maye. The company
is particularly satisfi ed with
developments on the German
market. Armin Walter, today responsible
for sales at JF-Stoll,
carried out the groundwork for
the Tanco distribution network.
His Christian Walter (24) has
been continuing this work in
Rieneck, Bavaria, as factory representative
for three years now.
“We shall continue to concentrate
on our niche. The wrapper
market offers enough possibilities”,
states Adrian Lacey with
conviction.
