The Carl Gustav Jung Foundation of Ecuador, Developing Group of the IAAP,
completed the two-year general formation course and conducted the corresponding
evaluation. Participants found that the knowledge acquired has helped them expand
their professional scope, especially in their clinical psychology practice and teaching.
In the second semester of 2008, a new general formation course in Analytical
Psychology started. It is a graduate level course for college students in their last year
of Psychology, the Humanities, as well as for other interested professionals.
The program has been somewhat modified in relation to previous years. Even though
it concentrates on the complete works of C.G. Jung, contributions of Post Jungians
have also been included, among other reasons, because these allow easier access to
Jungian thought and consequently there is less difficulty in going to the primary
source. Participants are mainly young psychologists, students of psychology, writers,
homeopaths, and people who have undergone psychological analysis.
In addition to the mentioned course, psycho-spirituality lectures in the framework of
analytical psychology are still being offered every Thursday and there have been
repeated requests for the presentation of conferences about different Jungian
subjects to groups seeking alternative lifestyles and to cultural studies circles.
Group members, Vladimir Serrano and Ana Tibau, have continued the analytical
psychology course for interested academics in the city of Ambato and next semester
Francisco Prado will also teach this course. Furthermore, this course is also being
offered in the city of Riobamba.
The same professionals organized a practical course (workshop) about affectivity,
sexuality and analytical psychology for the Ecuadorian Conference of Church
Members, aimed at religious women doing different kinds of pastoral work mainly in
psychiatric hospitals. Participants were 40-60 years old and some of them were going
through a midlife crisis. Due to this, the organizers asked the instructors to see them
in consultation.
As in previous years, we still offer classes in Dynamics of the Psyche, Typology and
Psychotherapy, as well as Conscience and Interculturality and Social Evolution of
Conscience at the Superior Institute of Ancestral Knowledge “Jatum Yachai Wasy”,
located in Balbanera, Chimborazo Province, which has the largest Indian population.
These classes are part of general studies and especially of the Andean Medicine
program.
In August, we were visited by analysts, Gonzalo Himiob and Alejandro Suárez,
members of the Venezuelan Association of Analytical Psychology AVPA, in order to
continue with the formation of analysts in the group, according to the IAAP program.
