Iaap newsletter 28 - The new Israeli Jungian society

The C G Jung Study Center is in the process of organizing a public showing of Frazer
Boa’s film “The Way of the Dream”, on January 17 and 18, 2009. The film screening
will be moderated by Marion Woodman with Ross Woodman and Meg Wilbur. We are
excited to have the opportunity to bring Marie Louise Von Franz to a wider audience
in a medium through which she can be understood and appreciated. As von Franz puts
it: "Dreams show us how to find meaning in our lives, how to fulfill our own destiny,
and how to realize the greater potential of life within us."

SOCIETY OF JUNGIAN ANALYSTS OF SAN DIEGO (SJASD)
The San Diego Society of Jungian analysts meets in Katie Sanford’s home with its
beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. Our main order of business this year was to
welcome two new analyst members: Dr. Barbara Sadak and Dr. Charles Asher. Dr.
Sadak has completed her training at the C.G. Jung Study Center of Southern
California. She currently maintains a private practice in San Diego. Dr. Asher is the
former provost at Pacifica Graduate School in Santa Barbara. He has relocated to
North San Diego County. We are pleased to welcome these two analysts into our
Society.
Our analyst meetings center on a topic, which we agree to discuss ahead of time; for
example, Barbara Hannah’s lecture “On The Beyond” has been the focus of a few
meetings. Also, Katie Sanford presented a series of dreams that a client of hers
worked on the two years leading up to her death. Katie illustrated that the psyche
anticipates the body passing. In addition, Katie showed that her client experienced a
great deal of meaning and purpose from her analysis in the last year of her life. This
led to rich and profound discussion in our society meetings including personal sharing
around illness and death.
Betty Meador and Katie Sanford have lectured extensively this year. Katie has
lectured on her book, “The Serpent and the Cross: Healing the Split through Active
