THE MEDIATION WORKING PARTY REPORT
Over the past several years, the IAAP has seen that a number of our Constituent
Societies have been struggling with conflicts within their groups. This has been a
matter of concern to the Executive Committee, and it has seemed that some of these
difficulties might have been resolved, had there been an opportunity to do so at an
earlier state. It was thus suggested that thought be given as to how a structure could
be developed that would aid Constituent Societies in resolving conflicts that may arise
in their groups.
The Mediation Working Party has been set up in order to develop such a structure.
We hope that structure will promote a meaningful dialogue between the parties when
conflict occurs. This structure might either lead to a resolution of these differences
or help the parties to the conflict separate with more consciousness and less
destructive energy.
At present, the Mediation Working Part is in the process of assembling a list of
potential mediators from within our IAAP membership. The idea is that Constituent
Societies can then draw from this list, should they desire mediation. A
questionnaire, which aims to help put a mediation structure in place is also being
worked on.
