Obituary
Sadly, we lost a vital member of JAWA, Jim Barnett, who we are still missing. He was
very active in a number of Jungian groups in Dallas, North Caroline as well as the
Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysis (IRSJA). He particularly opened his home to
us during the Christmas season and a good time was had by all! We celebrate his life
and honor the work that continues from his efforts.

THE GEORGIA ASSOCIATION OF JUNGIAN ANALYSTS (GAJA)
The Georgia Association of Jungian Analysts is a funny, nomadic melting pot. We are
small in numbers (8 members), but rich in diversity. GAJA’s membership comes from
four different states (Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and North Carolina). Three of
our members have deep roots overseas (France, Germany and Italy). Our Jungian
training experience further reflects our cross-cultural backgrounds (Zürich, IRSJA, and
New York), as do our present Jungian commitments (teaching and leadership
commitments in IRSJA, AGAP and ISAP, as well as, writing projects with colleagues,
including Virginia Apperson’s The Presence of the Feminine in Film co-authored with
John Beebe).
We, like so many, are spread thin. Our limited time together as a group on a bimonthly
basis is spent building community, discussing papers and cases, and sharing
our own creative endeavors. In light of our patchwork nature, it seems to be nonaccidental
that our newest member has created some magnificent quilts that reflect
her life story. We truly are a piece of work and a work in progress.
