Art from the Heart

Exotic Art

Local artist and art teacher Penelope
Bancroft will be opening
an exhibition of her paintings entitled
‘Exotic Art,’ which includes
colourful images of flowers, birds
and landscapes.
Marbella in black and white
MARBELLA. Da Bruno Sul Mare restaurant,
Avenida Arias Maldonado.
The exhibition is being held to celebrate
the 15th anniversary of the
restaurant. The exhibition sums up
the graphic history of the town
through the work of local photographer
Pepe Marpy. The exhibition
ends on November 1st.
Ecletic Images
LA CALA DE MIJAS. Dibleys, from

Nine members of the AIA group
from five different countries will
be exhibiting a selection of their
images in textile, watercolour,
acrylic and oil and photographs.
Visitors can meet the artists at a
small cocktail between 8 p.m. and
9 p.m. next Tuesday (6th).

Jubrique fair
The fair is on until Sunday October
4th, and some of the activities
on the agenda include music and
dance to the Mambo orchestra this
evening (Friday) from 9 p.m. fol-
lowed by more music performances
by the Nueva Onda orchestra
and other groups from 11 p.m.
On Saturday at 8 p.m. the Dany
Cantos company performs a musical
and on Sunday at 3 p.m. there
will be wine tasting at the day fair.
Cheese festival
TEBA. The famous festival takes
place on October 3rd.
Bird Fair
CASARABONELA. The bird fair will
be held in the main plaza on October
3rd and 4th. There will be a
marquee selling local food products
and arts and crafts with a bird

Historical recreation
MIJAS. Barrio Santana, Sunday October
4th at 12.30 p.m. The historiccultural
association “Torrijos 1831”
have organised, in collaboration
with the Peña Santana, a historical
representation of the War of Independence,
with French and
Spanish fighting at the beginning
of the 19th century.
German Unity Day
MARBELLA. Alameda Park, Saturday

p.m. This event, which has been
organised in association with Sur
deutsche Ausgabe, will feature German
music and folklore, with a
performance by Star Sound Express

Marbella Film Festival

The festival comes to an end this
weekend. On Sunday at Gran Marbella
cinema at 6 p.m. there will
be a screening of the new documentary
Xaviera Hollander, ‘The
Happy Hooker’: Portrait Of A Sexual

Fifty professional American cowboys
from the PRCA (Professional
Rodeo Cowboys Association)
are performing in ten Spanish
venues as part of their 2009
European tour. So far the the rodeo
has been taken to Madrid,
Guadalajara, Castellón, Valencia
and Benidorm, and this evening
the action comes to the bullring
in Marbella, where cowboys
in full regalia will be displaying
their prowess with broncos, bulls
and heifers in seven spectacles.

After Marbella, the rodeo
holding a big sale from October
5th to 10th when all men’s and ladies’
clothing will be priced at just

Poppy Ball
