The Business Support Centre of<br />
Marbella (CADE), Mijas Town Hall<br />
and Unicaja joined <strong>for</strong>ces last Friday<br />
to organise the conference,<br />
“How to Create a Business in<br />
Andalucía.”<br />
Around 160 people wanting to<br />
start their own company, together<br />
with existing business owners looking<br />
to improve their companies, investors<br />
and members of the media<br />
headed to the Hotel CIO Mijas, La<br />
Cala de Mijas, to hear advice and<br />
case studies from a variety of<br />
experts.<br />
Óscar Fernández, the Director<br />
of CADE Marbella, who opened the<br />
<strong>for</strong>um, was joined by Annette Skou<br />
who heads the Foreigners Department<br />
of the Mijas Town Hall; the<br />

branch director of Unicaja in Calahonda,<br />
Anne Zardini; José Orbaneja,<br />
who spoke ab<strong>out</strong> Andalucia’s<br />
investment potential; and Eva<br />
Pizarro, the entrepreneur consultant<br />
of CADE.<br />
Two business owners, Ignacio<br />
Infante of Meer Music and David<br />
Edwards from B2B Costanetworking,<br />
also spoke candidly of how<br />
they’ve created successful <strong>for</strong>eign<br />
companies in Andalucía.<br />
The Business Support Centre,<br />
based on Avenida Ricardo Soriano<br />
in the heart of Marbella, is part of<br />
the Junta de Andalucía’s Ministry<br />
of Innovation, Science and Enterprise.<br />
Launched three years ago,<br />
their mission is to promote the<br />
growth of the region’s economy by<br />
advising new and existing companies<br />
to begin and then thrive, and<br />
also to encourage additional investment<br />
to this part of the country.<br />
Last week’s conference highlighted<br />
the regional government’s<br />
public incentives and how businesses<br />
in Andalucía can meet the<br />
requirements to be a competitive<br />
player in the world through good<br />
business practices, adaptability, in<strong>for</strong>mation<br />
and people.<br />

criminals hands himself in<br />
Just days after the new<br />
Crimestoppers Operation<br />
Captura campaign was<br />
launched in Malaga last<br />
week, one of the ten most<br />
wanted criminals whose<br />
photographs were published<br />
turned himself in.<br />
Michael Eddleston, 27,<br />
originallly from Doncaster, UK,<br />
handed himself over to the British<br />
Consulate in Palma de Mallorca<br />
on Tuesday afternoon. Eddleston<br />
is accused of three<br />
counts of illicit trafficking in<br />
narcotic drugs and psychotropic<br />
substances.<br />
In an attempt to combat terrorism<br />
all pay-as-you-go mobile<br />
phone users will have to identify<br />
themselves be<strong>for</strong>e November<br />
or lose their number.<br />
In accordance with a law<br />
passed in March 2007 mobile<br />
phone users will cease to be<br />
anonymous. All pay-as-you-go<br />
users must present their DNI<br />
identity card, passport or <strong>for</strong>-<br />

most wanted British<br />
criminals in <strong>Spain</strong> is<br />

Pay-as-you-go mobile users must<br />
identify themselves be<strong>for</strong>e November<br />
eigners card in one of their operator’s<br />
branches and sign a<br />
document. The details will only<br />
be accessible with a judge’s order<br />
and will not be used <strong>for</strong> commercial<br />
purposes.<br />
Despite a public awareness<br />
campaign many of the 400,000<br />
pay-as-you-go users in the province<br />
of Malaga still have not<br />
identified themselves.
