LOUISIANA ALPHA.—The chapter has enjoyed<br />
this fall one of the most successful periods of activity<br />
in its history. Vernon Finch has been tapped by<br />
OAK. Jack Lorch is president of the White Elephants,<br />
honorary freshman organization, of which<br />
<strong>Phi</strong>keias Farrel and Nichols are also members. Billy<br />
Moffat was elected president of the sopohomore class<br />
in the school of Commerce. James Aldige is secretary<br />
of the freshman dass in Arts and Science. <strong>Phi</strong> <strong>Delta</strong><br />
<strong>Theta</strong> is also well represented in athletics by Waugh,<br />
who is captain of the track team and Kirby who is<br />
Varsity manager of track. Wenzel is starring at left<br />

end on the varsity football team. Louisiana Alpha<br />
continues to lead scholasticaUy in the Law School,<br />
Pierson and Sims being on the Tulane Law Review.<br />
For the second time in three years * A G won the<br />
Homecoming decoration plaque awarded by the interfraternity<br />
coundl for the most uniquely decorated<br />

MAINE ALPHA.—The Colby chapter is enjoying<br />
one of the most successful seasons in the history of<br />
the chapter. A diversified membership, including a<br />
number of men who are Outstanding athletically,<br />
scholasticaUy and sodally, ranks the chapter high<br />
among the Greek-letter sodeties. Football found<br />
* A 9 particularly wdl represented, not in the point<br />
of numbers, but rather in the quality of the men<br />
contributed. Bruce and McGee were varsity backs and<br />
did much of their running behind the expert blocking<br />
of <strong>Phi</strong>keias Hersey and Schuman who played in<br />
the line. Basketball, already commanding attention,<br />
is likely to be dominated by <strong>Phi</strong>s. Malins and Kammandd,<br />
all-fraternity choices of a year ago, are<br />
slated to receive regular positions on the first hoop<br />
team in the history of the college. In addition, Salisbury<br />
and <strong>Phi</strong>keias Reed and Kincus are strong<br />
contenders for positions on the varsity quintet. <strong>Phi</strong><br />
<strong>Delta</strong> <strong>Theta</strong> was one of the two fraternities on the<br />
campus to achieve its full quota of twdve men during<br />
the pledging season. Dibble represented the yearling<br />
group in cross-country and Cobb, Stumpp and<br />
Rimasokus are among those who reported for freshman<br />
basketball. McGee is vice-president of his dass<br />
and is a member of the athletic council of the college,<br />
being one of two undergraduate students to be elected<br />
to the latter. <strong>Phi</strong>keias Leonard, Baxter, and Rimpo<br />
are active in student publications. Kammandel, Salisbury,<br />
Malins and Dignam a)mprise the quartet of<br />

MANITOBA ALPHA—The Manitoba chapter has<br />
started the new year in very auspicious style. After<br />
obtaining a new chapter house the business of fall<br />
rushing was beg^n in real earnest, and ended with<br />
the pledging of nine men swelling the number of<br />
<strong>Phi</strong>keias to seventeen. Manitoba Alpha is wdl represented<br />
in the student affairs of the University. Paylor<br />
is the Senior Stick of the faculty of Science. <strong>Phi</strong>keia<br />
English is president of First Year Engineering, Brother<br />
Leckie and <strong>Phi</strong>keia Madean are editors on the<br />
Manitoban, and Leckie, Brandson, Law, Carleton,<br />
and Gee are playing Interfaculty rugby. On October<br />
23, Judge Carroll, our province pr«ident, visited the<br />
chapter and seemed pleased with the progress made.<br />
A luncheon was held at the chapter house and afterwards<br />
the chapter attended the Winnipeg-<strong>No</strong>rth<br />
Dakota rugby game. Madead won the De Haviland<br />
Aeronautical scholarship and is now studying in<br />
England. The chapter has hdd a number of open<br />
houses after important university functions. Chapter<br />
officers for the coming year are Gerald Law, president;<br />
Bob Harland. treasurer; Wally McBride, secretary;<br />
Edgar Gee, historian; Wally Paylor, warden; and<br />
Frank Dwyer, reporter. Jack Trimble is the house<br />
manager and Don MacDougall is the pledge-master.<br />
Brother Chevrier has succeeded Brother Reid as the<br />
chapter adviser. A Mothers' dub has been formed<br />
and the mothers have shown a great interest in the<br />

MARYLAND ALPHA.—Maryland Alpha dosed the<br />
most successful rushing season that the chapter has<br />
ever had by pledging twenty-nine outstanding freshmen<br />
on pledge day and one man since then. Already<br />
one of the newly pledged men, <strong>Phi</strong>keia Frank Davis,<br />
has been elected president of the freshman dass, and<br />
<strong>Phi</strong>keias Gene Ochsenreiter and Henry Pelzcar are<br />
members of the freshman football team. The chapter<br />
is displaying a fine spirit this fall, with practically<br />
every member and pledge in at least one activity.<br />
John Muncks is president of the Student Governing<br />
Association; a member of 0 A K, and a member of<br />
the varsity lacrosse team. Muncks' election to the<br />
highest student office gave Maryland Alpha the distinction<br />
of being the only fraternity whose men ever<br />
held this position for two consecutive years. Carl<br />
Goller has been appointed president of the sophomore<br />
dass, repladng Willis Jones, who was unable<br />
to return to coUege this year. The business managership<br />
of The Old Line is held by John Wolf, who is<br />
also a member of B A *. Ed Long has been appointed<br />
manager of lacrosse. Jerry Hardy is treasurer of the<br />
junior dass, junior editor of The Old Line, and<br />
associate editor of The Diamondback. The chairmanship<br />
of the Junior Prom is held for the second consecutive<br />
year by a <strong>Phi</strong>, Eddie Johnson having been<br />
dected to that position, besides being a member oi<br />
the Men's League and the Interfratemity Council.
