GOING<br />

Pennsylvania I Zeta—University Zeta- of Pennsylvania<br />

WITH rushing deferred until the middle of the year the attention<br />

of the chapter was concentrated on athletics and general activities.<br />

Gunnis was a member of the football team. Hart was a managerial<br />

contestant for this sport. Wilson, Dufify, BecklofE, and Pressler<br />

tried out for the crew. Reed and Leister were members of the<br />

soccer squad. Donovan, Raymond, and DeWitt represented the<br />

chapter in the tennis tournament. DeWitt went to the finals. Two<br />

<strong>Phi</strong>s were members of the senior honor society, Sphinx. They were<br />

Helme and Astle, the secretary. Astle is a 4> B K. Connor was a<br />

member of Friars, senior sodety, and assistant editor of the yearbook.<br />

The Record. Morrison, Helme, and Astle were members of the<br />

Kite and Key Society. The forty-ninth annual production of the<br />

Mask and Wig Club used Raymond as assistairt manager and Reed<br />

and Kosek in the cast. Kosek, Klauder, Conner, Wilson, and Reichner<br />

were members of the editorial staff of the Daily Pennsylvania<br />

while Morrison, Raymond, and Astle were members of the business<br />

staff. Contributions to the Punch Bowl were made by Irvine on the<br />

art staff, Wilson on the editorial staff, and<br />

Kruse on the business staff. Klauder, Wilson, and<br />

Kosek were on the editorial staff of the arts and<br />

sdence magazine. The Red and Blue. MacMurray<br />

was president of the sophomore dass. Raymond<br />

was elected to membership in 4» K B, junior<br />

hoiior society. Hart was. made assistant manager<br />

of football for next year. When rushing ended<br />

the <strong>Phi</strong>s totaled their pledges at eighteen. These<br />

men already a semester old on the campus were<br />

well started upon their activity careers. Schuyler<br />

was president of the freshman class. Moore.<br />

Getter, and Schmohl were members of the choral<br />

sodety. Barry and Buchanan were on the business<br />

boards of the Punch Bowl and Record, respectively.<br />

TVPIGAL of the outstanding character of the<br />

Pennsylvania Epsilon chapter is Clayton G. Going,<br />

the chapter's most outstanding undergraduate.<br />

Clayton was a member of O A K, T K A, and<br />

A S r. He was a president of the Pennsylvania<br />

Association of College Students, a managing editor<br />

of The Dickinsonian, and editor-in-chief of<br />

the 1936 Handbook. Graf served on the<br />

editorial staffs of The Dickinsonian and the<br />

Microcosm. Austin was managing editor of the<br />

former publication, while Royer was assistant<br />

managing editor, Spangenburg, make-up editor,<br />

and Fry, Paul, Marotte, Bouton, and Gorsuch<br />

were members of the staff. Young was elected the<br />

third successive <strong>Phi</strong> manager of the debate squad<br />

on which were Royer, Gorsuch, and McDonald.<br />

Bittle won a letter for his work on the varsity<br />

football team. Gordon was a member of the frosh<br />

team. Bittle transferred his athletic ability from<br />

football to basketball. Jackson was a member of<br />

the freshman five. In the spring Bittle took up<br />

track along with Graf, Young, and Gorsuch. Jackson<br />

was a member of the tennis team. The chapter<br />

entered the year with the fraternity scholarship<br />

trophy which it retained for another semester<br />

after the ratings of the first semester of the<br />

year were released.<br />

Pennsylvania Eta—Lehigh Umversity<br />

As the fiftieth anniversary of Pennsylvania Eta<br />

approached, the chapter organized a full-speedahead<br />

movement which carried it into the year<br />

with a full pledge dass and large list of campus<br />

activities. Many of the men won letters in sports.<br />

Manley, Park, and Henning were members of the<br />

varsity footbaU squad. Collins was junior manager<br />

and Rose was assistant manager of football.<br />

Later Collins became manager for next year,<br />

Lightcap was junior manager and Schafef was<br />

assistant manager of soccfcr. Hurst was number<br />

one man of the cross-country team. The chapter<br />

claimed three captains with Mathias captain of<br />

golf, Shepard captain of the rifle team, and
