All Aboard for Old Point Comfort<br />

OLD POINT COMFORT 2 "7 ^ J/<br />

This airplane view gives a good idea of the site of the iffjS Convention at Old Point Comfort on<br />

Hampton Roads at the mouth of the James River. In the left foreground is the Hotel Chamberlin. On<br />

the right is shown part of Fortress Monroe with its wide moat. In the bactiground-is the town of<br />

Phoebus. The Chamberlin is the only property on the Point which is not a part of the military<br />

reservation of Fort Monroe. Langley Field, not shown in the picture, lies beyond Phoebus.<br />

THERE are good transportation facilities<br />

from every portion of the<br />

United States and Canada to Old Point<br />

Comfort, Virginia. The railroad and<br />

steamship lines are already planning how<br />

they can be of service to the delegates and<br />

visitors to the Forty-third General Convention.<br />

At Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis,<br />

Louisville, and Cincinnati all delegates<br />

from the West and the Middle West<br />

can take the Chesapeake and Ohio pullmans<br />

directly to the Chamberlin Hotel<br />

at Old Point Comfort. For those driving<br />

or using the rail connections through<br />

Washington, D.C, the <strong>No</strong>rfolk and Washington<br />

Steamboat Company will furnish<br />

excellent overnight transportation to the<br />

very front porch of the Chamberlin. The<br />

delegates from the South should come to<br />

<strong>No</strong>rfolk, where a Chamberlin Hotel bus<br />

meets all the trains. Consult the transportation<br />

schedules. Plan your trip now.<br />

The Washington Alumni Club has<br />

made a number ot tentative reservations<br />

for this boat trip down the Chesapeake<br />

to the Convention. Delegates and visitors<br />

desiring to use the accommodations<br />

should place their needs with the General<br />

Headquarters at as early a date as<br />

possible for the tentative reservations<br />

cannot be held indefinitely. The Alumni<br />

Club further promises definite assistance<br />

to all <strong>Phi</strong>s who wish to see the<br />

sights in and around Washington, D.C.<br />

At a later date more specific information<br />

will be available for delegates and<br />

visitors.<br />

With an evening departure from Washington<br />

by boat all attendants coming<br />

through the city can time their arrival<br />

so as to join the many <strong>Phi</strong>s at this concentration<br />

point. The delegates from west<br />

of the Mississippi will find it possible to<br />

travel via Washington with little if any
