RUTA 3: 4.5 km.
Para el tercer día sugiero desayunar en
Barnaby’s, un restaurante ubicado sobre
Shepherd Drive que sirve delicias de la
cocina norteamericana aunque no tan sanas.
el Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Houston
JOGGING IN HOUSTON
Houston is a city of contradictions. While it has a
reputation for being the embodiment of “bigger is
better”—a metropolis full of endless labyrinthine
malls and giant burgers—the biggest city in
Texas is actually a vibrant and health conscious
place, full of wonderful outdoor activities and
running paths. We’ve put together the top three
jogging routes for you to experience all the best
that Houston has to offer.
ROUTE 1: 2.88 miles. This is a local favorite
for being near Memorial Park, one of the city’s
most beautiful areas. The best part? The many
stops you can make with the excuse that
you’re sightseeing.
ROUTE 2: 2.75 miles. This route takes us through
Rice Village, a popular area filled with restaurants
and bars near Rice University. It is also the most
versatile, since you can follow three distinct
paths within it. Rice Boulevard—renamed Sunset
que los niños juegan. Paralelo a Allen
Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, el
Wortham Center, el Jones Hall y el Alley
Theater.
Boulevard—will lead you towards an oak treelined
street from which you can see the university
stadium. While here, look around the university
and take a jog down Main Street.
The second path crosses Main and Fanin
Streets towards Hermann Park, continuing north
to the Sam Houston monument and the Houston
Museum of Natural Science. Below the statue,
you can see the Reflection Pool and enjoy an
incredible view. Continuing on this road, you’ll
reach the Miller Outdoor Theatre. The last option
is to go south towards the Reflection Pool and
see the Houston Japanese Garden.
ROUTE 3: 2.5 miles. Going east, you’ll see downtown
on the horizon. Continuing south, you’ll
come across Wortham Fountain. Keep going and
you’ll find Buffalo Bayou ArtPark and its open-air
sculpture collection, with the route ending on
Bagby Street. Whichever route you choose,
reward yourself with a burger at Flying Saucer.
RECOMENDACIONES
● Si nunca antes has practicado jogging
de forma constante es mejor consultar
al médico para checar si tienes
problemas en las rodillas o corazón,
especialmente si tienes más de 40
años o sobrepeso.
● Tus pasos deben ser tan rectos como
sea posible.
