mercado.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This paper analyzes empirically the impact of Managerial Social Responsibility (MSR) in
the competitive success of firms that characterize the productive system of Extremadura:
micro-enterprises. The analysis incorporates the innovation as a mediating variable with a
partial effect but attaining significant positive results. Results also indicate that the business
sector, as control variable, is not moderating the relationships. With the structural equation
technique applied to a wide cross section of 710 micro-enterprises in the region, we confirm
that a responsible management approach has a decisive impact on competitiveness. The
policy implications are clear, regardless of company size and the sector in which the company
operates, the MRS can be considered as a source of competitive advantage in the market.
