1.- Please, Could you tell me your perception and Croatian consumers perception of
Spanish food products
Croatian market demand is quite difficult at this time, and because all that we have been
through (war), social situation is bad, so best selling products are always the cheapest
ones. Only 5-10% of population can afford themselves to buy what they like no matter
the price. That means that besides classic products (frozen fish, squids, octopuses) quite
small quantities of specialties are sold.
2.- Croatian consumer tastes about fish and fish products
Hoki and hake HGT and fillets, light meat tuna in veg.oil, Patagonian squid, octopus,
squid ink, shark-tuna-and salmon slices, squid rings, tentacles, shrimps, prawns,
monkfish tail, mussels.
3.- Distribution chain of frozen fish and canned fish in Croatia.
3 main, biggest importers and distributors are Euroalfa, Ledo and Stanic. And few
smaller.
4.- We know that transport is usually a problem (and very expensive) between Spain
and Croatia. What kinds of transport normally use the Spanish companies that sell fish
and fish products to Euro-Alfa
Always trucks (road transportations), but if the fish or squid comes directly from
Argentina or some other destination it comes with ships.
5.- What is the normally way of payment when dealing with Spanish fish and canned
fish companies
Open payment 60days or 90days L/C.
6.- Average margins of frozen fish and canned fish in shops and supermarkets.
Unfortunately, 8-14%.
7.- Is there any special requirement or control for Spanish fish products to enter
Croatia
No, because our government is very EU friendly.
