Centre of new age therapies Catalia
FVHOY - Fuerteventura
In la Asomada, ten minutes away from Puerto del
Rosario, a centre called Catalia dedicated to new
age therapies for personal and spiritual
improvement has just been inaugurated.
Adolfo, what do these methods consist of?
We teach Zen meditation, Tai Chi, Chi Kung, we
work with Bach Flowers and we do Reiki treatments
and various types of massages: from Quiromassage
to stone massage and Cromotherapy.
How did you get the idea to create this centre?
I have always had this idea in the back of my mind,
which is based on a personal search, but it became
more real when Sagrario gave me the push I needed
to finalise it. I have been giving Tai Chi lessons on
the island for a few years in various sites on the
island and for various Ayuntamientos; I continue
doing so in the Ayuntamiento of Puerto at the Municipal
Swimming pool and now I also give lessons in
Catalia.
Sagrario, when did you feel attracted by those
therapies?
It was because of personal problems. I started as
a patient for Reiki treatments which helped me find
the real me and later I carried on learning to become
a teacher after a few years. Reiki acts on both
physical, and mental, emotional levels. Later I
incorporated Bach flowers in therapies because I
think they are a very efficient complement regarding
self-consciousness.
Adolfo how long have you been involved in this
personal improvement field?
I could say forever, before dedicating myself to
Tai Chi I studied and achieved other things. In this
personal search I found Tai Chi as a body expression
and I have been practising it for 20 years of which 7
as a teacher.
Tai Chi is said to be a meditation in movement,
seen from outside it feels like a mix between dance
and martial art. Please tell us more about it and tell
us about the difference between this type of
meditation and Chi Kung?
Yes, that’s what is it when the person controls
all the movements and it becomes something
natural that flows from the person in a relaxed
manner.
Both those are different techniques; in my point
of view they should be practised side by side
because they complete each other. This is how I
teach them. Although, Tai Chi is a technique that
develops the integration body-mind and Chi Kung
helps control the use of «Chi» energy (vital energy),
which is aimed mainly at maintaining heath.
What are the centre’s opening hours?
We basically concentrate on evenings but private
lessons are available at any time. People who need
further information can call us on 689 163 798 or
contact us by e-mail on centrocatalia@hotmail.com.
This place is beautiful, with a perfect ambiance
to relax and concentrate on deeper plans or as they
say in their presentation «to achieve a state of
meditation that brings us to ultimate reality».
Congratulations!
