Champs du Glacis - Ville de Luxembourg

As in previous years, Luxembourg City increases its efforts to promote and maintain the environment during
these festivities. This awareness includes, among others, limiting waste during such events. Thus, thanks to
the commitment of the stallholders and associations who occupy the chalets in the city centre, the meals
and drinks offered at the Christmas Market will be served in reusable receptacles, such as glass or
porcelain, and visitors can get their deposit back by returning the receptacles back to the stands. Let us not
forget that every citizen can contribute to this approach, especially by using the City’s bus network to go the
different events or also the "vel’oh!" to get around town.
Main highlights of the "Winterlights" programme
Opening of the Christmas Market at the Place d’Armes and the Saint Nicholas Market at the Place
de Paris on 25 November at 11.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. respectively.
On Sunday, 4 December, the Saint Nicholas Procession will cross the City, from the main train
station (Gare Centrale) to the Place Guillaume II, where the children can meet Saint Nicholas.
Luxembourg Advent Circus from 1 December to 18 December 2011 on the champs des Glacis
Festival Vins et Crémants (Still and sparkling wine festival), from 25 November to 27 November on
the champs des Glacis (www.vins-cremants.lu)
On 11 December, the Christmas Parade will liven up the City, departing at 5.00 p.m. from the rue
de Strasbourg
As in previous years, this "Winterlights" festival will definitely offer a wealth of activities and entertainment to
please all tastes and all ages.
