La traite négrière Ce matin là mes parents venaient de partir aux marché, et je venais tout juste de me réveiller, je devais sortir chercher de l‟eau qui se trouve à 5 km du village. Arrivé à la rivière, je me baissais pour prendre l‟eau quand tout à coup on m‟a assommée… Je me suis réveillé à dos de chameaux et je vis un bateau qui s‟appelle « Aquarelle » . Je rentrais dans le bateau et je vis des gens noir accrochés dont adultes et enfants séparés, des gens malades sans hygiènes, qui se baignaient dans leurs excréments sans air avec une odeur épouvantable. Pendant ces semaines de voyage, le trajet était très difficile pour nous surtout pour les plus petits, la plupart pleuraient même criaient, c‟était vraiment pénible, tout les jours je voyais des gens souffrir, des gens mourir. Nous n‟avions ni a manger, ni a boire nous étions à la limite de la famine. L‟avant dernier jour nous sortions du bateau car le lendemain nous étions vendus à des maîtres ou maitresses. Donc ils nous ont nourries et laver avec aucune délicatesse. Ils nous ont laissé quelque instant pour nous laissé prendre l‟air. Ils nous ont nettoyé nos calles, pour avoir un confort important. Ces en fin de journée nous faisons cap sur l‟Amérique. Après quelque mois de voyage nous somme arrivés en Amérique, et c‟est le début de la vente.
Monday 12th January From Kelly, When I arrived in America, we went downtown, we were in a kind of cage and when the boss of the slaves blew the horn, lots of people came running for the auctions. A specific family watched me and the spouse said she wanted me because I had the requirements she wanted. The boss gave a few prices and when he pronounced 2000$, the family bought me. Wednesday 14th January, Two day later, the family arrived at their place. They showed me where to sleep and what to do. I had to work inside the house and tied up to a rope. I had to get up very early to prepare breakfast. After that, I had looked after linens, cleaning, washing, cooking…. all the housework. Two weeks later I was a cleaning lady, I cooked the dinner, I had a muzzle not to eat food, otherwise I was punished. One day I forgot to wash a plate and my master took her whip to beat me. I hated cooking because I was muzzled and always tied up to a rope. I did not like that at all. One day, I was alone in the kitchen, unsupervised and took a knife to cut the rope and to run away as fast as possible. I run during a very long time and never looked back. After hours of running, I was exhausted and collapsed. I woke up with an animal‟s noise and realized I was free!!!
