matérialise le serment entre
deux personnes jurant de
rester liés pour toute leur vie.

Celui qui désire s’allier à travers
le « fati-dra » doit faire appel à un
« mpanao fati-dra » ou « mpititiky
fatidra ». Ce dernier prononcera
les formules consacrées durant le
rite. Il prépare alors une assiette
contenant de l’eau, du sel, de la
suie, des brins de jonc, un tison,
de la terre prise aux 7 points
cardinaux du foyer de la demeure,
7 morceaux d’herbe, une petite
bêche ou un talon de sagaie.
D’une lame de rasoir, le
demandeur s’incise l’épigastre
puis enfonce à 7 reprises le bout
de la lame, sanglant de son sang,
dans une cuillère d’eau tenue par
celui qui accepte, en comptant
jusqu’à 7, puis il dit : « Qui trompe
meurt sept fois, et c’est tout ».
Puis il compte jusqu’à 6 et ajoute
: « Celui qui ne trompe pas son
frère, aura de la santé, aura des
richesses ». L’alliance par serment
ne crée qu’une demi-parenté :
les « fatidra » de sexe différent
ne devraient pas se marier. Le «

The “Fatidra” or “Ziva” materializes
