Prerequisites for the Creation of Realistic Tales in the Middle Ages
Summary
Georgia from the early times became the area of the crossing of the
oriental (Iranian, Arabic) and Bizantine civilizations, which had influence
on the georgian spiritual life. Howerer the original georgian thouth
and world outlook were formed and in XII century were completed
ly the poem “Vepchistkaosani”.
Traditions of the oriental and occidental literature confirmed, that
the creation of the realistic tales were conditioned by the social and
ideologic displacements in the public life in the middle ages. In cities
advanced the workmanship with the following realistic perception of the
life. On the miracle based artistic fable acquiered realistic features.
Personages of the fabliaus and swanks in this period became
witty and smart fellows.
The Georgian realistic tales are based on the same principles, as
the realistic tales of the another peoples in the world; they reflect the
same realistic and moral problems.
Appearance of some signs of democracy in georgian social system
conditioned transfer of attantion to the personal abilities and honour of
common people which became heroes of the new type of tales.
According to “ the Types of International Folktales” in Georgia
are distributed following types of realistic tales: ATU 850-893 - ( 15
plot); ATU 901 – 992 – (32 plot); ATU 1000- 1199 – (22 plot); ATU 1200
– 2400 – (122 plot), among them original georgian ones.
