Non un omaggio alla carriera di un regista o di un attore, ma un
omaggio all’orso. Il Film Festival della Lessinia con questo evento
speciale, il primo di una serie di eventi che andranno ad arricchire
le prossime edizioni, intende mettere al centro della scena
i veri protagonisti della vita in montagna e quindi del Festival. E,
fi nalmente, non sono soltanto i montanari, ma anche gli animali a
essere in primo piano. È una relazione inscindibile quella che lega
gli esseri umani agli animali in montagna. La lotta per la sopravvivenza,
in questo come in ogni altro ambiente della terra, impone
la caccia e la morte, ma anche la convivenza, traendo dall’esistenza
altrui un aiuto per la propria. Questo è ciò che accade in Natura
tra animali e altri animali, tra uomini e altri uomini e tra uomini
e bestie. Se l’andare a caccia è diventato ormai, in quasi tutto
il pianeta, soltanto una passione, o un discutibile divertimento
che qualcuno chiama stupidamente sport, l’Uomo ha imparato,
in milioni di anni, ad addomesticare e ad allevare gli animali o,
nel caso dell’orso, a studiarli e a favorirne il ripopolamento, dopo
aver contribuito a farli sparire dal loro ambiente naturale. Questo
intreccio di rapporti tra uomini, orsi e montagna è bene indagato
e raccontato nella selezione dei fi lm che compongono questo
evento speciale. Ci sono due grandi maestri del cinema internazionale
a fi rmare l’uno, Werner Herzog, il documentario Grizzly
Man, l’altro, Jean-Jacques Annaud, il lungometraggio L’ours. In
entrambi i fi lm gli orsi sono attori di se stessi. Agli orsi delle montagne
trentine e venete è dedicato invece il documentario di Josef
Schwellensattl Orsi nel Brenta. È stato un orso “di casa nostra”,
giunto in Lessinia dalla Slovenia nella primavera del 2010, a dare
lo spunto e l’idea per questo evento speciale. Ai bambini, ma non
solo a loro, sono dedicate le scelte del fi lm di animazione targato
Walt Disney Koda, fratello orso e della splendida serie di cartoni
animati, che hanno spopolato in Russia, Masha e l’orso. Si accendano
i rifl ettori. Sul tappeto rosso c’è l’orso.

Ours is a tribute not to a director or an actor, but to the bear.
Th is special event is the fi rst of a series that will enrich future
editions of the Film Festival della Lessinia and bring to the
fore the true protagonists of life in the mountains, and thus of
the Festival itself. Not only montanari, or mountain residents,
belong at centre stage: so do the animals who live at high elevations.
Th e relationship between man and animals in the
mountains is indissoluble. Th e struggle for survival, here as in
every environment on earth, imposes the hunt and death, but
also coexistence in which each species takes from the other to
help itself. Th is is what occurs in Nature between one animal
species and another, between men and other men, and between
men and beasts. If going hunting has become, in almost all parts
of the world, only a passion, or a debatable diversion that some
stupidly call sport, Man has learned, over millions of years, to
domesticate and breeds animals or, in the case of the bear, to
study them and aid their repopulation, aft er having contributed
to their near-extinction from their natural habitats. Th is
delicate weaving of relationships amongst men, bears, and
the mountains is explored and documented in the selection of
fi lms featured in this special event. Two great maestros of international
cinema are represented: Werner Herzog, with the
documentary, Grizzly Man, and Jean-Jacques Annaud, with
the feature fi lm, L’ours. In both cases, the bears are the featured
actors. Josef Schwellensattl’s fi lm, Orsi nel Brenta, documents
the bears of the Trentino and Veneto mountains. It was a “local”
bear, who arrived in the Lessinia mountains from Slovenia
in the spring of 2010, that inspired this special event. Th e Walt
Disney animated fi lm, Koda, Brother Bear, will delight children
(and not only) as will the splendid cartoon series, Masha and
the Bear, that took Russia by storm. Turn on the footlights. Th e
bear is on the red carpet.
