New ltalian tanker joins Libya mission<br />

Libyan mission.<br />
The Italian defence minist::ry on<br />
20 May confirmed that the aircraft<br />
an d one Lockheed Martin KC-130J<br />
bave been put at NATO's di sposa l<br />
for in-flight refuelling tasks. Its<br />
statement mvealed that both types<br />
have already been used, along<br />
with ltalian air force Emofighters,<br />
Lockheed F-16s, Panavia Tomaclos<br />
a:ncl an Ale:nia <strong>Aeronautica</strong><br />
G222VS surveillance aircraft.<br />
Ttaly's iìrst two KC-767 As were<br />
inducted into operational service<br />
vvith the 14th Wing during a ceremony<br />
at Pratica di Mare, attended<br />
by officiaJs including ajr force<br />
chief of sta.ff Gen Giuseppe Bernardis<br />
and Boeing representatives.<br />
The new KC-767 A was inducted into service at Practica di Mare<br />

airframe, Italy's KC-767As have<br />
two under-wing hose-a:nd-drogue<br />
refuelling pods and a centreline<br />
boom, also v,rith a cenb.'eline ho se.<br />
The aircraft could al so carry up to<br />
200 passengers or 19 pallets, or<br />
operate in a "cambi" configuration<br />
