L’humus<br />
L’humus é un materiale scuro, molto <strong>di</strong>verso dai residui<br />
organici <strong>di</strong> partenza, tanto finemente sud<strong>di</strong>viso da presentare<br />
caratteristiche colloidali, formato dai componenti <strong>la</strong> <strong>SO</strong> che<br />
offrono una maggiore resistenza al<strong>la</strong> decomposizione e che<br />
pertanto durano sufficientemente a lungo nel <strong>terreno</strong>:<br />
i resti dei microrganismi<br />
i prodotti dell’attività microbica (proteine)<br />
i materiali che hanno totalmente o parzialmente resistito al<strong>la</strong><br />
decomposizione (lignine)<br />
da cui <strong>la</strong> denominazione <strong>di</strong> complesso ligneo-proteico.<br />
Riveste le particelle minerali come una pittura. Una quota<br />
dell’humus è così intimamente associato al<strong>la</strong> componente<br />
minerale del <strong>terreno</strong> da costituirne l’1% del peso; <strong>la</strong> quota<br />
rimanente è in<strong>di</strong>pendente, associata a cationi o a che<strong>la</strong>ti.
