Justasimportantistheevaluationofthecorrosivepotential
of the environment where the construction is to be installed,that,accordingtoISO12944-2,shouldfitintoone
of the categories described in Table 1.
Durability is the expected time period covered by the anti-corrosion
protection before the first important maintenance
work becomes necessary (connected with Ri4 level
rustingasaccordingto ISO4628-3).
TheISO12944-5normprovidesafewexamplesofliquid
varnishing suitable for different environments (see examples
in tables 2 and 3) while QUALISTEELCOAT specifications
provide a few examples of powder varnishing systems.
The suitability and/or durability of the painting system
must be proved using tests listed in ISO 12944-6. Specifically,
the results of corrosion resistance tests in neutral saline
mist (ISO 9227) enable to determine in which corrosion
class the coated steel component may be used so as

Noncrediamocisianodubbisulfatto
che “Recognised European quality programmes”
non sono solo le norme tecniche,maancheSpecifichee/oDirettivetecnichedimarchidiqualitàEuropei
come, ad esempio, il QUALICOAT per
l’alluminio verniciato, il QUALANOD per
l’alluminio anodizzato e il QUALISTEEL-
COAT per il ferro e l’acciaio verniciato.
Ciòancheperchétalidirettivesonoin
grado di fornire maggiori garanzie di
qualitàrispettoallesolenormetecnichediprocessoediprodotto,inquanto
prevedono, anche il rispetto di idonee
procedure per il controllo della produzione
sia in autocontrollo che attraversovisiteispettivedientiterzi.
