FRANCO BRUNA (Torino, 1935-2014) FRANCO BRUNA (Torino, 1935-2014) Mostre curate da Little Nemo Comici Graffiti: Creazioni e Ri-creazioni di Franco Bruna Little Nemo Art Gallery, Torino febbraio - marzo 2014 Gli Olii Disney di Franco Bruna Little Nemo Art Gallery, Torino novembre 2014 Personaggio schivo e modesto, con la testa un po’ “fra le nuvole” (anche grazie ai suoi due metri di altezza); un po’ Archimede Pitagorico, per la sua disposizione al continuo inventare opere, Franco Bruna, un po’ come Ferenc Pintér, ha attraversato 40 anni della nostra storia catturando, con i suoi “graffi”, personalità del mondo della cultura, dello spettacolo e dello sport. Il suo esordio come caricaturista e vignettista risale infatti al 1971, sulle pagine di “Stampa Sera” (complice l’istigatore Giovanni Arpino). Come le copertine mondadoriane di Pintér, le caricature di Bruna ci hanno accompagnato per tutti questi anni, a volte senza suscitare l’immediata consapevolezza di essere di fronte ad un “lavoro d’arte”. Solo in tempi più recenti entrambi gli artisti hanno iniziato a ricevere il riconoscimento che meritano. Abbiamo cosi scoperto in Franco Bruna un artista eclettico: pittore, illustratore, incisore, scultore, copertinista, caricaturista, Bruna ha all’attivo numerose esposizioni personali (la prima nel 1968) e vanta numerosi riconoscimenti in concorsi nazionali ed internazionali. An introvert and humble character, with his head in the clouds (thanks to his height too); looking like Gyro Gearloose on the one hand, because of his tireless predisposition to inventing new works, and on the other hand looking like Ferec Pintér. Bruna went through 40 years of our history catching, with his scratches, culture, showbiz and sport VIP. His debut as caricaturist and illustrator dates back to 1971, on the newspaper Stampa Sera, thanks to the novelist Giovanni Arpino. As it was for Pintér’s covers, Bruna’s caricatures accompanied us along the decades, not always raising awareness of being an artwork. Only recently both the artists began receiving a fair recognition. We are now seeing Franco Bruna as an eclectic artist: painter, illustrator, sculptor, coverist and caricaturist, he has been exhibiting since 1968.
