SummarySpecial Interest Groups, specific and structuralIn numerous fields it has proven useful and inspiring if parties concerned meet on aregular basis. Connekt organises Special Interest Groups for this purpose. The participantsare members of the network and experts. They regularly meet to determine a strategy, toThe Connekt networktake decisions or to agree on actions regarding specific subjects. This allows the partiesconcerned to structurally share knowledge and to apply this in their own field of activity.Like a mycelium, Connekt works on a fertile ground in which innovative mobility initiativesshoot up like mushrooms. The mycelium’s underground system has an innovativemethod of branching; if a certain area no longer contains enough nutrients, the myceliumwill expand further. In the same way, Connekt provides a modest and ‘invisible’network that brings parties together, where new ideas develop, and that ultimately servethe prosperity and well-being of the Netherlands. Connekt is an international networkof public, private and scientific parties involved in optimizing traffic and transport.Projects, not a goal but a meansProjects are the activities which Connekt, in co-operation with parties concerned, workson over a longer period and thereby makes agreements on budget, planning etc.Connekt aims to join international projects where possible. Projects are not a goal inthemselves, they are mainly a means via which to further expand Connekt’s network. To achieve this, it puts organisations in contact with each other, organises thematicplatforms to allow members to exchange knowledge and initiates actions and projects.ActivitiesNetwork meetings, connecting, spreading and acceleratingThe network is mainly strengthened by creating new contacts, reaffirming existing contactsand sharing knowledge. To this end, Connekt organises meetings for its membersin the form of a conference, lunch or for example an ITS members dinner; it activelyparticipates in events organised by others like the ITS conferences for example. Connektalso organises visits to specific locations. These study trips generally take place abroad.Connekt in 20072007 was a good year for Connekt. The network grew both in terms of membershipnumbers and depth of involvement. Connekt has established a clear position for itself inthe national and international world of mobility. The public-private collaborationcomprises around 80 government authorities, companies and centres of expertise. Thisrepresents a large number of the organisations involved with mobility in our country. The growth of the network has created more and longer-term activity between themembers and with external parties. Members themselves increasingly come up withideas, suggest initiatives, help to organise meetings and seek out interested parties.Round Tables, broad and in-depthRound Tables are aimed at generating broader and more in-depth knowledge of topicalissues. These events are organised in co-operation with one or several private and/orpublic members, specific parties and experts involved in this subject area will beinvited to the event.Connekt Jaarverslag 2007In 2007 the search for connections, achieved by setting developments in motion, hascontinued with an increase in confidence. Connekt is increasingly consulted on issuesrelating to traffic and transport. Connekt has expanded into a partner that is big in‘mobility land’. In order to be able to capitalise on current developments in the area ofmobility, the Connekt network must remain alert and active. Connekt used countlessactivities in 2007 to attempt to translate complex mobility issues into practical, durableand socially relevant actions.
