midler (ATC-gruppe M03B)
Sikkerheten ved bruk av karisoprodol
(Somadril) har de siste år kommet i fokus.
Legemidlet har en stor fare for tilvenning,
forgiftning og gir nedsatt evne til å kjøre bil.
Det europeiske legemiddelkontoret (EMEA)
anbefalte i slutten av 2007 tilbaketrekking av
alle karisoprodol-legemidler i EU. Statens
Legemiddelverk hadde da allerede bestemt at
karisoprodol fra 1. august 2007 skulle flyttes
fra reseptgruppe B til reseptgruppe A. Dette
førte til at forbruket i 2007 sank med 37 %
målt i DDD. Somadril vil bli trukket fra
markedet i Norge 1. mai 2008.
Reseptregisteret viser at antall brukere falt fra
mer enn 75 000 i 2006 til 48 000 i 2007.
Midler til behandling av bensykdommer
(ATC gruppe M05)
Bisfosfonater brukes hovedsaklig til
behandling av osteoporose. Salget av
bisfosfonater har vært jevnt økende, og økte
med 3 % i 2007 målt i DDD. Dette har
sammenheng med terapianbefalinger for
forebygging og behandling av osteoporose fra
2003.
Fosamax (alendronsyre) mistet 1. desember
2005 sin patentbeskyttelse og ble inkludert i
trinnprissystemet. Etter dette har
omsetningen av legemidler i gruppen målt i
kroner, sunket kraftig. Salget av bisfosfonater
beløp seg i 2007 til nær 90 millioner kroner
(AUP). Dette var 35 % lavere enn foregående
år, og mer enn en halvering i forhold til 2005.
Tall fra reseptregisteret viser at nær 57 000
personer hentet ut minst én resept på
bisfosfonater i løpet av 2007, 90 % av disse
var kvinner.

During the last years the safety of
carisoprodol (Somadril) has been questioned.
The drug has a considerable addiction
potential, has caused poisonings and impairs
the abilities of car driving.
The EMEA recommended in the end of the
year that all cariosprodol preparations should
be withdrawn from the market. At that time
the Norwegian Medicinal Agency had already
decided that carisoprodol should, from August
1 st 2007, be moved to the restricted
prescription group for narcotics. This led to a
decline in consumption by 37 % measured in
DDDs. Somadril will be withdrawn from the
Norwegian market May 1 st 2008.

showed the number of users fell from 75 000
in 2006 to 48 000 in 2007.
Drugs for treatment of bone diseases (ATC
group M05)
The major part of the bisphosphonates is
used for the treatment of osteoporosis. The
sales of bisphosphonates have increased
gradually during the recent years. In 2007 the
increase was 3% measured in DDDs. The
increased use of bisphosphonates is
connected to the therapy recommendations
for the prophylaxis and treatment of
osteoporosis issued in 2003.
Fosamax (alendronic acid) lost its patent
protection by 1 st December 2005 and was
included in the grading pricing system. This
has resulted in a considerable decline in
sales measured in NOK. In 2007 the sales of
bisfosfonates totalled about 90 million
(pharmacy retail price) which was 35 % lower
than in 2006 and less than half of the sales in
2005.
Data from the Norwegian Prescription
Database (NorPD) show that nearly 57 000
individuals had at least one bisphosphonates
prescription dispensed during 2007, of which
90 % were women.
