FIM INESPERADO DE TEMPORADA
PESADA DERROTA NA MEIA-FINAL
Ao se chegar ao termo de mais uma temporada, teremos
que esperar que os dirigentes do Portugal FC
tenham aprendido com os altos e baixos da equipa
durante o decorrer dos diversos encontros disputados. Momentos
existiram que foram muito bons, mas também momentos se registaram
que merecem muita atenção para que no futuro não se
cometam os mesmos erros.
O começar assim-assim, para se passar ao suficiente e
ao sofrível, e logo a seguir atingirem-se alguns dos melhores
picos da época, para depois se conseguir chegar às
meias-finais, já foi muito bom.
O que não foi nada bom foi chegar às meias-finais e
perder por 0-7 contra o Attak de Trois Rivieres. Mais um
aspecto importante para se saber digerir e não para esquecer.

It’s a Trois-Rivieres Attak vs. Serbian White Eagles
final on October 26. The Quebec team defeated Portugal
FC by a resounding 7-0 score in the second semi-final of
the CSL Championship at the University of Quebec Trois-
Rivieres Saturday afternoon and they will make the trip to
Toronto to meet up with Serbian Eagles at Esther Shiner
Stadium next Sunday. Serbian Eagles defeated Italia
Shooters 3-0 in the first semi-final on Friday to earn a berth
in the final for the third year in succession. It was a chippy
affair from the beginning at Trois-Rivieres, with Portugal
reduced to 10 men after 11 minutes when midfielder Selmir
Sehic was shown the red card for violent conduct and while
the visitors held the Attak well in the following stages,
Trois-Rivieres broke through with a goal by midfielder
Mohamed Sylla at 26 minutes.
Pierre-Rudolph Mayard made it 2-0 at 41 minutes and
added his second two minutes later for a 3-0 score at halftime.
Sylla made it 4-0 at 58 minutes, Nicolas Lesage struck
at 75 minutes to increase the Trois-Rivieres lead to 5-0,
Francois Boivin made it 6-0 at 77 minutes and Hector
Contrares rounded the scoring at 7-0 at the 87th minute
mark.
Gagan Natt of Portugal FC was also ejected in the closing
minutes of the game.
Trois-Rivieres Attak won the CSL’s National Division
in the regular season just ended, while Serbian White
Eagles were runners-up in the International Division.

Serbian White Eagles outlasted Trois Rivieres Attak
over a rain-drenched 120 minutes and penalty kicks to win
the Canadian Soccer League championship at Esther Shiner
Stadium. It was a fast-paced, thrilling encounter that was
well-attended despite the heavy rains with lightning that
knocked out a few floodlights.
Midfielder Alex Braletic opened the scoring for Serbian
Eagles at 61 minutes, but Trois-Rivieres’ forward Nicolas
Lesage struck an equalizer five minutes later. With the
game tied 1-1 at the regulation 90 minutes, the teams went
into overtime and Sasa Viciknez put Serbian Eagles ahead
at 96 minutes with a thundering free kick that caught the
underside of the crossbar before crossing the line. The
Quebec side tied the score at 2-2 on a goal at 104 minutes
by midfielder Jean-Phillipe Etienne who caught the lower
corner just inside the post.
Serbian White Eagles outscored the Attak 2-1 on penalty
kicks to win their first CSL championship.
Trois-Rivieres Attak lost Ibrahim Baldeh near the end
of the first overtime period when ordered off by referee
Isaac Raymond who showed a second yellow card following
an untidy challenge. There were two earlier successive
losses for Serbian White Eagles in the CSL final, to Italia
Shooters in the 2006 final and to Toronto Croatia in 2007.
This year, the CSL International Division team finished
second in their division, then beat North York Astros and
Italia Shooters in the playoffs to reach the final, while the
Attak won the National Division title then defeated St.
Catharines Wolves and Portugal FC.
The CSL is Canada’s only professional soccer league
with teams in Ontario and Quebec and plans for expansion
on a regional bases in western Canada for kickoff in 2010.
Sporting vê confirmada obrigação de organizar homenagem a Iordanov
OTribunal da Relação de Lisboa confirmou a sentença
da primeira instância do Tribunal do
Trabalho, condenando o Sporting a organizar uma
homenagem ao seu antigo futebolista búlgaro Ivaylo Iordanov.
Em declarações à Agência Lusa, o director de comunicação
do clube de Alvalade, Miguel Salema Garção, confirmou
que a direcção jurídica da SAD dos "leões" está "a
analisar o acórdão" e que "quando houver alguma decisão,
ela será tornada pública", sublinhando que "o recurso é possível
para o Supremo (Tribunal de Justiça)".
Os responsáveis sportinguistas têm agora 20 dias para
recorrerem da decisão para a última instância.
Segundo o advogado de Iordanov, José Serrão, foi "confirmada
integralmente a sentença da primeira instância" e o
Sporting tem agora 10 dias para apresentar ao ex-jogador
um projecto para o evento.
Caso esse prazo seja excedido, a SAD do clube vai ter
que pagar 1.000 euros por cada dia de atraso, revertendo as
verbas para Iordanov e para o Estado português, em partes
iguais.
Serrão adiantou ainda que o eventual recurso do clube
de Alvalade para o Supremo Tribunal de Justiça não tem
efeitos suspensivos sobre a sentença, já que a primeira
decisão contemplava a hipótese de haver apenas um outro
acórdão a confirmá-la, como sucedeu agora.
Iordanov reclama o incumprimento da primeira cláusula
de uma adenda ao contrato que tinha com o clube lisboeta,
na qual se lê que a "Sporting SAD compromete-se a
realizar um jogo de despedida em homenagem, em data a
acordar entre ambas as partes".
O ex-jogador considera que a "data de realização do
jogo estava condicionada ao acordo entre ambas as partes"
e que só podia convidar os intervenientes para a sua festa
com conhecimento de uma data a indicar pelo Sporting,
algo que nunca terá acontecido.
O Sporting alegou que a organização do jogo, bem
como a constituição da equipa que iria defrontar o clube de
Alvalade, seria da responsabilidade de Iordanov, que só terá
demonstrado interesse três épocas após o previsto, em
Outubro de 2005, quando "as circunstâncias idealizadas já
não se verificavam".
Os "leões" defenderam também que pagaram 150.000
euros ao futebolista, conforme estipulado no contrato, e que
acabaram por ter prejuízo, já que esperavam um retorno de
75.000 euros, proveniente de uma eventual transmissão
televisiva do evento.
O antigo internacional búlgaro, com 40 anos, actuou
durante 10 temporadas no Sporting - entre 1991/92 e
2000/01 - e esteve ligado ao penúltimo título "leonino", em
1999/00, que pôs fim a um "jejum" de 18 anos sem títulos
nacionais.
