Q
uando se fala em indústria de base florestal se
pensa muito no campo, nas máquinas e nas
árvores, mas ele é feito primordialmente de
pessoas. Alguns dos mais importantes são os
engenheiros florestais, que são responsáveis por liderar e trazer
as soluções para o campo através da pesquisa e desenvolvimento.
Ailson Loper, engenheiro florestal e professor da UFPR
(Universidade Federal do Paraná) relata aqui sua trajetória no
setor, as demandas que o mercado traz e visões sobre o futuro
do segmento florestal brasileiro.

W
hen we talk about the Forest-based Sector,
we think a lot about the field, the machines,
and the trees, but it is primarily made up of
people. Some of the more important are forestry
engineers, who are responsible for leading and providing
solutions to the field through research and development. Ailson
Loper, Forestry Engineer and Professor at the Federal University
of Paraná (Ufpr), speaks about his path in the Sector, the
market’s demands, and his visions for the future of the Brazilian
forestry segment.
ATIVIDADE/ ACTIVITY:
Graduação em Engenharia Florestal pela UFPR (Universidade
Federal do Paraná), mestrado em Economia e doutorado em
Engenharia Florestal também pela UFPR (Universidade Federal
do Paraná). Atualmente é professor do DERE (Departamento
de Economia Rural e Extensão), do SCA (Setor de Ciências
Agrárias), da UFPR, e diretor executivo da APRE (Associação
Paranaense de Empresas de Base Florestal).
Undergraduate studies in Forestry Engineering, Masters in
Economics, and Ph.D. in Forestry Engineering, Federal University
of Paraná (Ufpr). Currently, Professor at the Economics
and Extension Department (Dere) of the Agrarian Sciences
Sector (SCA), Federal University of Paraná (Ufpr) and Executive
Director of the State of Paraná Association of Forest-Based
Companies (Apre)
