The Nordic Council for Alcohol and Drug Research (NAD) has
launched a project that seeks to map and evaluate the scope of Nordic
research concerning aging and alcohol use.
In addition, the report will address discussions and debates, on-going
projects and possible guidelines related to the subject. The report will
also draw attention to the unexplored dimensions of aging and alcohol
use.
The project is conducted by the responsible project leader, professor
Jyrki Jyrkämä (Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy, University
of Jyväskylä) and project assistant, student Laura Haapamäki
(Department of Sociology and Social Psychology, University of
Tampere). The report is due to be completed in the early fall of 2007.
Aging and alcohol use is an increasingly important area in the research
fields of gerontology and alcohol research. Despite its topicality, little
research has focused on this particular issue.
At the current stage of our project, we are gathering information,
references and tips about Nordic research concerning aging and alcohol
usage, on the public discussion related to the issue and developmental or
other projects connected to the subject at hand. To do this we wish to
appeal to central experts within the field and hope that you could send us
useful research information. You can also contact us if you have any
information concerning research, projects, links, further expert contacts
etc. related to this issue.
