in Dubai with their latest products.<br />

Turkish cosmetics industry is one<br />

of the fastest growing sectors<br />

of the chemical industry with its<br />

The size of the cosmetics industry<br />

in the world is about 300 billion<br />

Euros. The domestic market size<br />

of the sector in <strong>Turkey</strong> is around 3<br />

billion Euros. Cosmetics is among<br />

the sectors which continue to<br />

grow even during times of crisis.<br />

In addition to its dynamic and<br />

innovation-friendly structure,<br />

it also draws attention with its<br />

flexible production structure. With<br />

all these features, the industry<br />

seems to have a rapid growth<br />

momentum in recent years. Our<br />

cosmetics exports have increased<br />

by 170 percent in the last 10 years,<br />

while sector companies have been<br />

able to export to over 190 countries.<br />

Turkish cosmetics sector can<br />

compete with international brands<br />

both in domestic market and<br />

foreign markets with the quality<br />

and competitive prices.<br />

The sector carried out cosmetic<br />

exports of $ 1.05 billion in 2016. The<br />

countries where cosmetic industry<br />

exports most in the past year are<br />

Iraq, Iran, the United Kingdom,<br />

Russia, Germany, France, Saudi<br />

Arabia, United Arab Emirates, the<br />

Netherlands and Romania. Product<br />

groups such as soap, hair care<br />

products, wet wipes produced by<br />

sector companies whose share in<br />

the global market is growing are<br />

in the first place in the world. In<br />

cosmetic products called color<br />

cosmetics, the product variety<br />

of the companies, exports and<br />

brand investments are increasing.<br />

Following the developments in the<br />

world, the sector companies are<br />

moving rapidly in branding.<br />

Murat Akyuz, Chairman of the<br />

Board of Directors of Istanbul<br />

Chemicals and Products Exporters<br />

Association (IKMIB) said, “Our<br />

cosmetics sector is growing by<br />

more than 10 percent every year.<br />

Today we export our products to<br />

more than 190 countries. Currently<br />

the most exported products are<br />

hair preparations, cosmetics,<br />

aerosols and wet wipes. In recent<br />

years, we are moving towards an<br />

assertive point in color cosmetics.<br />

The success of the Turkish series<br />

abroad is also reflected positively<br />

in the cosmetic sector. Consumers<br />

who think that serial characters<br />

and players use Turkish cosmetic<br />

products show more interest in<br />

Turkish products. According to<br />

researches; A price difference of<br />

30% between a Turkish product<br />

and another country product can be<br />

bought by buyers. This is reflected<br />

in the sector as the added value of<br />

being a Turkish brand.”
