Maldives opens the “Integrated Tourism” concept
Its spectacular beaches and water
front resorts surrounded with
trees and limitless amount of
sunny blue sky, is the first thing
we recall when we think about
travel or heavenly vacation. Yet,
Maldives’ tourism sector believes
that there are more opportunities
to be utilized in the sector.
Marasi Yachts had the opportunity
to interview MITDC’s Managing
Director Mohamed Shahid, to
have more insights about the new
capabilities Maldives is offering to
investors.
The Integrated Tourism
“We have been well known as
a luxurious destination for honey
moon holidays based on the concept
of “One Island One Resort”,
Now we are introducing the concept
of “Multiple Hoteliers in One Island”
where they provide an integrated
services to the tourist rather than
being limited by the services of one
hotel only”, said Shahid.
“We are even going an extra step
ahead, since we have been always
known as the heaven of sun and
sand. But now we are opening opportunities
for other types of services
and entertainment activities,
where tourist will have more choices
to enjoy and spend a remarkable vacation
in Maldives”, he added.
Halal tourism
Mr. Shahid mentioned that Maldives
now offers investment products
and opportunities for UAE and
GCC investors that is end to end
halal compliant, which makes it so
convenience for businessmen from
the region to utilize the capabilities
of tourism industry. Moreover, Maldives
is working to be a main destination
for Arabic families who are
looking for pleasurable holidays that
suites their traditions and values.
From the other side Maldives is
well known to be as a honeymooner
heaven, however, it is working now
on launching awareness campaigns
to promote more its halal tourism
side and showing the packages convenient
for Arabic families. Maldives
authorities is collaborating with
many strategic partners in the UAE
to build this new image across the
tourism industry as clarified by Mr.
Shahid.
Investors protection
Regarding the regulations and
measures that Maldives government
is offering for investors to be
protected and feel that they will go
for a secured business partnership,
Mr. Shahid emphasized that all investors
are completely protected
by the laws and regulations of the
country. The investors can enjoy
100% free ownership for the projects.
The taxation rate and system
is friendly for foreign investors. As
a proof for that most of the existing
investors are expanding their
projects because they are achieving
good returns on the investments
they made earlier.
