นความมั่นคงของชาตินั้น มิใช่ก่อกาเนิดหรือกาเนิดขึ้น
ได้ด้วยพลังทางการทหารในการป้องกันประเทศเท่านั้น
แต่ยังรวมถึงการที่จะต้องสร้างสรรค์ให้พี่น้อง
ประชาชนมีความอยู่ดี กินดี มีความสุขสมบูรณ์ เขาจึงจะเกิด
ความรักแผ่นดินนี้ และนั่นคือความมั่นคงแท้จริงและถาวร”
เป็นพระราชดารัสที่ให้สังคมเข้าใจอย่างชัดเจนถึงภาระ
หน้าที่อันแท้จริงของทหารกองทัพไทยกับภารกิจในด้านการ
พัฒนาประเทศ จากภารกิจด้านความมั่นคงภายในประเทศ
โดยเฉพาะตามแนวชายแดน ในเขตที่หน่วยราชการอื่นเข้าไปไม่ถึง
หน่วยทหารจึงได้เข้าไปมีส่วนร่วมในการให้ความช่วยเหลือ
