Which age group do challenge you the
most in respect of R&D?
The most challenging group is the
baby room. Because each country has
different standards in its baby room
designs and the challenging part is to
experience and implement them. As a
matter of fact, they all are things that
can be overcome, they do not have a
very challenging sides. It is just enough
for us just to canalize these in order
to overcome. In the children’s group,
what is challenging us is that too many
amorphous objects are preferred over
the thematic products. For example,
since it is necessary to use a different
and healthy material in the production
of a-car bedroom, there are problems
that we suffer while producing them.
In brief, we do not have any problem at
all with design, but we may experience
the problems such as the production
of our designs, finding products with
healthy content, and making them at
reasonable cost.
Is there a “trend” also in children’s
furniture? How often do these models
change?
There was not the word “trend” in the
past. As a matter of fact, there was
not any trend in children’s furniture
and furniture sector in Turkey. In those
day, there were two fairs in the world.

designs we make at present. For
example, we have seen
that the racing car we
have produced earlier
has more straight lines,
and that its colors are
farther away than the actual
colors. When we look at our
designs at present, we saw
that it has more realistic
lines and is beautiful as it
cannot be distinguished
from the racing car. Thus,
in a sector that does not
have trends in its own
field, we started Çilek Furniture as a
trend that applies the trends in the
automobile sector to the children’s
furniture sector.
Then could we learn from you the
trends of 2018?
Next year, with the downscaling
of the square meters in houses, in
other words, while fewer rooms
and fewer furniture populations
increase, parents will create a
children’s room in the parent’s
room by placing a baby bed,
furniture and accessories in
the parent’s room. In short, we
foresee a structure in a corner
system style. There is a lot
of nature-theme, people are
producing projects about these.
Especially organic, simple furniture
minimalist, Scandinavian style
furniture that is breathable as it
is in clothes, no harmful chemical
release will be very fashionable.
Also monochrome fashion will start
in children’s room furniture sets.
Since it is a style about colors, the
black and white lines will be used on
flat plain furniture. At the same time,
grid forms will be used in the room
decor. In the children’s rooms where
the Bohemian style will reflect, we
will see unrelated furniture together.
Rainbow colors are also among trends
at the same time, the large flower
patterns, large animal figures will also
be among the trends.
