A TRIBUTE TO THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF INDIA
ON ‘INTERNATIONAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY’
RECOGNISED AS SUCH BY THE UNITED NATIONS
Over three (some say four, some
five) thousand years ago, the land then
known as Jambu-Dvipa, also pronounced
Jambudeep, now the Indian
subcontinent incorporated the
Harrapan and Indus Valley civilisations
(IVC). This was a naturally mineral
rich, fertile and peaceful land. It
was progressive because there was
equality, liberty and fraternity amongst
the Jambu-Dvipa nivasis, the indigenous
people of Jambu-Dvipa.
We conclude this from the archaeological
find from these civilisations
where surprisingly no weapons whatsoever
were found. (Ref. Sept 2016
issue of ‘The New Scientist’- The Real
Utopia).
All dwellings were of similar size.
People were free to chase their dreams.
No wonder it was the most scientifically,
socially and morally advanced and
creative civilisation in millennia. This
was when the rest of mankind lived in
comparatively uncivilised, war mongering
societies who watched animals
tear people apart for entertainment.
The peaceful Jambudvipians, the
natives of Jambu Dvipa, now called the
MULNIVASIS of India, never planned
for effective security against an alien
invasion. They probably didn’t even
know they existed and therefore didn’t
feel the need to do so.
(NOTE: The word ‘Mulnivasi’ is
not a proper noun. I.e., is not a name
given to a person of any group of people
but is a common noun which
means ‘native’ or an indigenous person.
‘Mul (mool)’ means Root and
‘Nivasi’ means inhabitant)
The current state of affairs in the
same land of Jambu Dvipa, modern
day India with parts in Pakistan, is
obviously not as peaceful and progressive
as it was in the golden period of
IVC. WHAT HAPPENED? It can only
mean that:
EITHER
Those original inhabitants, the
indigenous people of modern India did
not want to, or did not like to live in
peace & security and instead preferred
mayhem
OR
Their peace and way of life was disrupted
as a result of invasions.
Overwhelming evidence by the
‘Hindu’ and Non Hindu scholars indicate
the later. The invasions occurred
over a period of time. It wasn’t a oneoff
invasion.
AFTER THE INVASION:
The invaders, irrespective of where
they came from (origin debateable),
did in Jambu-Dvipa what was considered
the norm in that era. They looted,
oppressed, committed atrocities of
unimaginable magnitude and controlled
ALL aspects of the natives’
lives. They became the rulers, the lawmakers,
the powerful new masters.
To ensure their dominance and
hegemony, they sealed the fate of the
invaded for millennia by devising a
hierarchical system of slave labour,
from which they believed, would be
impossible to escape for they would
ingrain it in the psyche of the
Mulnivasis.
This was the
evil caste system.This
system
of control
that Dr
BR Ambedkar called ‘the system of
graded degradation, is to this day the
Shekhar Bodhakar social
London based Ambedkarite Thinker Composer
of Buddha Taal Founder Member of GIBC
(Global Indian Buddhist Council-UK) Ex Head
of Mathematics in a London college
most dominant deciding factor in shaping
peoples’ lives.
A certain proportion of the
Mulnivasis could not be made to and
did NOT fall prey to the vile caste system,
not because they resisted but simply
because they were out of sight and
were either nomads or lived in dense
forests and
mountains.
O t h e r
Mulnivasis
who did not want to become the
‘oppressed and down-trodden’ fled and
joined them out of desperation.
A special term, Adivasi/s, was
coined by Thakkar Bapa (Bappa) in
1930 for the purpose of classification
to describe these escapees and forest
dwellers who weren’t given a caste.
Many of those who were nomads left
the area and travelled to Eastern
Europe. Today’s Romanian gypsies
trace their roots to these nomads.
The natives left behind were either
labelled ‘Acchut’ or ‘Ati-Acchut’
along with other Mulnivasis. They
were the outcasts considered to be
untouchables.
They weren’t even worth assigning
a caste to. Nor was it worth keeping
them as slaves for, then there would be
that risk of physical touch. It was in the
interest of the ALL MALE invading
forces to settle in the naturally fertile
and mineral rich land of Jambudvipa
for their benefit. Who could blame
them, for the temptations must have
been overwhelming.
The Jambu-Dvipa invaders were the
initiators of anti-humanism on a gigantic
scale never witnessed in history
before, giving rise to the LONGEST
SURVIVING SINISTER SYSTEM
OF SOCIAL CONTROL IN HISTO-
RY. Even today most of the global population,
including scholars are unaware
of this stealth system of anti humanism
and have failed to recognise it as such.
The invasion of Jambu-Dvipa
resulted in TWO FACTIONS of people
living in the same land:
The original Jambu-Dvipa nivasis,
now known as THE MULNIVASIS
(which includes the newly coined
term,Adivasi)
AND
The invaders. THE MANUVADIS
(Manuvadi: Supporters of societal
laws as laid out in the Manusmriti, an
ancient Indian scroll containing a stringent
law-code attributed to its author
Manu, by the Brahmin scholars)
38 lakh Bengali-speaking persons left out of draft NRC: Mamata
Kolkata, Upping the ante on her
opposition to the draft NRC in Assam,
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata
Banerjee on Tuesday claimed that 38
lakh Bengali-speaking persons — both
Hindus and Muslims — were left out of
the list. “Unfortunately, most Indian citizens
left out of the draft National
Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam
speak Bengali (language)… Out of over
40 lakh persons left out, around 25 lakh
are Hindus and 13 lakh Muslims who
speak Bengali,” she told reporters here.
“People not included in the list are
being branded as either infiltrators or
refugees by Bharatiya Janata Party
(BJP) leaders and harassed,” the
Trinamool Congress chief said, adding
that people’s freedom cannot be
snatched in the name of NRC.
She also said about two lakh people
who speak languages other
than Bengali did not find a
place in the list.
Showing documents of
persons left out of the NRC
even though residing in
Assam for several years,
Banerjee asked: “Are they
infiltrators or refugees, or
Indian citizens? According
to an agreement inked in
1971, people who had
come to India till March 24
that year (1971) are very
much Indian citizens. The
name of a freedom fighter’s
grandson is also missing.”
Referring to her interaction
with members of the United
Bengali Forum, the Trinamool supremo
claimed that those left out have not been
allowed to protest and that fake cases
are being slapped against them.
“As many as 1,200 persons have
been sent to a detention
camp, including children
and people from Bengal’s
Murshidabad. Why are 400
companies of central forces
being deployed in a small
state like Assam? It is an
attempt to suppress the
voice of the people,” the
Chief Minister claimed.
She also dubbed the
NRC preparation as a
“political strategy of the
BJP” in view of the coming
elections in the country.
Taking a dig at the BJP,
Banerjee said: “Does (BJP
chief) Amit Shah’s father
have an original birth certificate? I do
not have (my father’s birth certificate).
That is why I am asking. How many
political leaders in India will be able to
furnish their father’s or mother’s birth
certificates?” While the draft NRC published
in Assam on July 30 included the
names of 2,89,83,677 persons, the
names of 40,07,707 others were missing.
A total of 3,29,91,384 persons had
applied for inclusion of their names.
The filing of claims and objections,
forms for which are available at Seva
Kendras in Assam, will start on August
30 and continue till September 28.
Banerjee also said the NRC issue is
“not about Hindu or Muslim”, it is about
citizenship. “I do not understand what
the problem of speaking in Bengali is.
People have been left out of the list
because of their language. Why do you
(Amit Shah) get angry with Bengali
speaking people? I love people who
speak in other languages,” she said.
