Facts and opinions
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
1 I have recently read a book called The Boy in
the Striped Pyjamas. It is a best-seller by an Irish
author called John Boyne.
2 I’d like to recommend this book to people who
enjoy drama and realism. It’s set in Poland during
the Second World War and the main characters are
two young boys – a German boy called Bruno and
a Polish boy called Shmuel. The plot centres on the
relationship between the boys and the different
situations which they are in.
3 I particularly enjoyed the characters and the theme
of friendship in the novel. Some of the scenes
are memorable because they’re really strong, but
the style and plot are very simple because a child
narrates the story.
4 All in all, I really enjoyed the novel and I wouldn’t
change the plot or characters. This is an easy book
to read, with a strong ending and a clear message.
