Abstract
The title of this bachelor project is ”Gas/luft temperaturens indvirkning på en
gasmotor” (The effect of the temperature of gas/air mixture on a gas engine), and it is
as a part of the final bachelor semester at the education as Bachelor of Technology
Management and Marine Engineering. The education is conducted at Aarhus School
of Marine and Technical Engineering, as a part of their online education program.
This bachelor project is based on a trainee period at DEIF A/S and it is made in
cooperation with the company.
The project investigates the effects on a gas engine caused by a high gas/air mixture
temperature, and this concerns both the operation of the gas engine and the total
efficiency. In order to determine the effects, the project includes a study of another
gas engine which is the exact same model as the gas engine at DEIF A/S.
In order to avoid the effects, caused by the gas/air temperature, the project contains
proposals to an optimization which are based on minor changes to keep the costs
down.
The conclusion for the effects, caused by the gas/air temperature, is theoretically the
temperature results in degraded operation conditions and a decrease in the efficiency
for the gas engine. The conclusion for the effects based on the results of the engine
oil analysis, does not agree with the theory, but the reason for that is the number of
the collected oil samples are too small.
The project also contains a section which describe the next step in the investigation
to be able to define the final conclusion about the effects caused by the gas/air
temperature and the evaluation for the optimization
