besser! Optimierung des hauseigenen
Werkzeugbaus
Eine der wichtigsten supportabteilungen bei odu ist
der hauseigene werkzeugbau. hier arbeiten circa
40 facharbeiter in 7 fachgruppen in bis zu 3 schichten
daran, spritz-, stanz-, montagewerkzeuge sowie
montageautomaten in höchster Qualität und in
kürzester zeit zu fertigen. damit garantiert die
„werkzeugfirma“ die bestmöglichste „hardware“ zur
herstellung unserer steck verbinder.
doch wie schon ein altes sprichwort sagt: „wer rastet
der rostet“, deshalb hat die Betriebsleitung ein neues
Projekt parallel zum kontinuierlichen Verbesserungsprozess
(KVP) angesetzt.
das Projekt „optimierung werkzeugbau“ läuft seit
anfang oktober 2009.
Die Projektschwerpunkte sind:
• Verkürzung der durchlaufzeiten
• Kosteneffektive fertigung
• 100 % termintreue
• arbeitserleichterung
• aufwandminimierung
hierzu wurden bereits die vorhandenen abläufe
mittels wertstrom aufgenommen und auf Verschwendung
und liegezeiten analysiert, aufträge strukturiert
und die vorhandene infrastruktur untersucht.
die resultierenden Ergebnisse werden nun in einem
3-stufen-Plan umgesetzt. die erste stufe floss im
februar 2010 ein und brachte bereits die ersten
optimierungen mit sich.
des weiteren wurden von den mitarbeitern zahlreiche
innovationsvorschläge eingebracht, welche

Optimization of our internal
tool manufacturing area
one of the most important support departments at
odu is our internal tool manufacturing area. around
40 skilled workers work in 7 sections here in up to 3
shifts to manufacture injection, stamping and assembly
tools, as well as automatic assembly machines, in
the highest quality and the shortest time.
in this way, the “tool company” guarantees the best
possible hardware for producing our connectors.
but as the old saying has it, “a rolling stone gathers
no moss,” and so management has prepared a new
project to run in parallel with the continuous improvement
process (cip).
the “tool manufacturing optimization” project has
been running since the beginning of october 2009.
The key points of the project are:
• Shortened throughput times
• cost-effective production
• 100 % on-time delivery performance
• reduced workloads
• minimized expenditures
with this is mind, the existing processes have already
been recorded using value stream mapping and then
analyzed for waste and idle periods. orders have
been structured, and the existing infrastructure has
been examined. the results are now being converted
into a 3-step plan. the first step was integrated into
the work processes in february 2010 and has already
produced the first optimizations.
the employees have also contributed numerous proposals
for innovations which are currently being re-
