seit über tausend Jahren ist das grab des apostels<br />
Jakobus in santiago de compostela im nordwesten<br />
spaniens ziel für gläubige aus der ganzen welt.<br />
auch die drei odu mitarbeiterinnen annemarie<br />
schallmoser, marianne grünäugl und olga steckermeier<br />
pilgerten nach santiago und erlebten die<br />
außergewöhnliche Kraft einer Pilgerreise.<br />
die reise der drei startete im beschaulichen sarria/<br />
spanien und führte durch die grünen und wasserreichen<br />
landstriche galiciens. nach insgesamt sieben<br />
tagen fußmarsch bei tagesetappen von durchschnittlich<br />
20 km erreichten sie schließlich die Kathedrale in<br />
santiago de compostela.<br />
auch wenn die reise anstrengend war, haben doch<br />
die positiven Erfahren deutlich überwogen und so<br />
sind sich alle drei sicher, dass sie bald wieder eine<br />
Pilgerreise machen werden.<br />
Pilgerabzeichen sollen den Pilger auf dem heimweg und<br />
auch noch in der heimat schützen. das Pilgerzeichen der<br />
santiagopilger ist die Jakobsmuschel.<br />
pilgrimage badges are supposed to protect the pilgrim on<br />
the journey home and also in the homeland. the symbol for<br />
the Santiago pilgrimage is the scallop.<br />

walk the Way of St. James<br />

in the north-west of Spain has been a destination<br />
for believers from around the world for more<br />
than one thousand years.<br />
three odu employees, annemarie Schallmoser, marianne<br />
grünäugl and olga <strong>Steck</strong>ermeier, also went on a<br />
pilgrimage to Santiago and experienced the remarkable<br />
power of such a journey.<br />
the three started their journey in contemplative Sarria,<br />
Spain, and continued through green galicia, an<br />
area with abundant water. after a total of seven days<br />
marching an average of 20 km a day, they finally<br />
reached the cathedral in Santiago de compostela.<br />
die „compostela“, die Beglaubigungsurkunde, erhält jeder<br />
Pilger, der min. die letzten 100 km zu fuß zurückgelegt hat.<br />
each pilgrim who has walked at least the last 100 km receives<br />
the “compostela”, or certificate of accomplishment.<br />
although the journey was strenuous, the positive experiences<br />
far outweighed any negative ones, and so<br />
all three are certain that they will be making another<br />
pilgrimage soon.<br />
