Fotos und Texten. Pläne, insbesondere Grundrisse,
werden nur selten wiedergegeben. Es geht nicht um
die vollständige Dokumentation der Bauten im Stil
einer üblichen Fachzeitschrift mit allen Grundrissen
Schnitten etc. Pläne sind eigens auf ihren Informations
wert für den Text hin ausgewählt und illustrieren
angesprochene Besonderheiten. Das kann mal ein
Querschnitt sein, mal ein Lageplan oder mal der
Schnitt einer speziellen Fassadenkonstruktion in größerem
Maßstab. Ziel der Objektpräsentationen ist,
jeweils die besondere Erscheinung und Charakteristik
eines Bauwerks und vor allem den baukünstlerischen
Wert erkennbar und erlebbar zu machen.
Die Rubrik »Environments« im anschließenden
Heftteil fasst das Thema weiter und geht über den
Objektbezug hinaus. Oft sind es dann städtebauliche
Erörterungen oder Übersichten, etwa wenn es im
Wasser-Heft um ganze Städte am Wasser geht.
In einer weiteren Rubrik »Porträts« werden namhafte
Architekten in Interviewform präsentiert und
ihr Gesamtwerk, ihre architektonische Haltung, ihre
Philosophie vorgestellt.
»Gallery« heißt die Rubrik, die sich der Architekturdarstellung
widmet, die gezeichnete Zyklen oder
thematische Fotoserien zeigt, historische, aber auch
künstlerische Arbeiten. Hier im Besonderen wird
deutlich gemacht, dass Architektur sowohl als Kunst
als auch als Sujet der Kunst eine bedeutende Rolle
spielt.
Was die Güte von Darstellung, Layout und Druck
betrifft, orientiert sich die Zeitschrift am international
höchsten Standard. Inhalt und Präsentation sollen
sich entsprechen und dem Anspruch von SPEECH genügen,
nämlich die Qualität der Architektur in allen
Belangen zu fördern. Der Funktion der Baukunst als
Genre des künstlerischen Ausdrucks einer Kultur gilt
das besondere Augenmerk. Vor allem dafür setzt sich
das Magazin Speech: ein.

with prominent architects and discusses their oeuvre
of works, architectural position, and philosophy.
Finally, the »Gallery« section focuses on architectural
presentation, featuring series of illustrations
and drawings or thematic photographs of historical
as well as artistic interest. This section highlights the
role that architecture plays both as art and as the subject
of works of art.
In terms of quality of presentation, layout, and
print, the magazine is of the highest international
standard. The presentation should correspond to the
quality of the content and reflects SPEECH’s aim to
promote quality in architecture at all levels. Their
particular interest lies in highlighting the role architecture
plays as a genre of the artistic expression of
a culture. Speech: magazine aims to do just that.
