14 Englische Zus<strong>am</strong>menfassung<br />
This paper aims at giv<strong>in</strong>g a review of the medical imag<strong>in</strong>g method of sonography. It deals<br />
with ultrasound <strong>in</strong> general, as well as its production. The author outl<strong>in</strong>es all the physical<br />
aspects occurr<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>side the human body dur<strong>in</strong>g the ex<strong>am</strong><strong>in</strong>ation. In addition, the basic<br />
pr<strong>in</strong>ciples of the imag<strong>in</strong>g method, such as the ultrasound field or the resolution, are ex-<br />
pla<strong>in</strong>ed. Furthermore, the paper addresses primarily the issue of the different k<strong>in</strong>ds of im-<br />
ag<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> or<strong>der</strong> to obta<strong>in</strong> a substantiated overview. The Doppler Effect and the Doppler so-<br />
nography form another ma<strong>in</strong> po<strong>in</strong>t. In the follow<strong>in</strong>g, the importance and orig<strong>in</strong> of different<br />
aberrations, as well as possible dangers of sonography are given.<br />
Summ<strong>in</strong>g up, a well-<strong>in</strong>form<strong>in</strong>g cross section of the imag<strong>in</strong>g method of sonography is pro-<br />
vided, whereas the technical equipment <strong>in</strong>side the mach<strong>in</strong>ery takes a back seat. However,<br />
the physical effects are described <strong>in</strong> great detail, and the author also gives mathematical<br />
background <strong>in</strong>formation.<br />
