Tamàs Waliczky, born in 1959,<br />
media artist.<br />
He started out by creating<br />
cartoon films and comics<br />
(1968-74), later taught himself<br />
drawing and painting, and<br />
began working with computers<br />
in 1983.<br />
He was artist-in-residence at the<br />
ZKM-Institute for Visual Media<br />
in 1992, and subsequently a<br />
member of the Institute's<br />
research staff (1993-97) before<br />
taking up a guest professorship<br />
at the <strong>Hochschule</strong> <strong>der</strong> <strong>Bildenden</strong><br />
<strong>Künste</strong> <strong>Saar</strong>, <strong>Saar</strong>brücken<br />
in 1997.<br />
The International Academy of<br />
Media Arts and Science (IAMAS)<br />
in Gifu, Japan, has chosen Waliczky<br />
as artist-in-residence in<br />
1998/99.<br />
His works won numerous<br />
awards, including the Golden<br />
Nica of Prix Ars Electronica,<br />
Linz, were shown in different<br />
exhibitions and festivals worldwide,<br />
and are in different public<br />
collections, including the Centre<br />
Georges Pompidou, Paris, and<br />
the Oppenheimer Collection,<br />
Bonn.<br />
